**For those uncertain to what a DYK thread is......**

DYK stands for Did You Know or Do You Know

It is simply a chit chat thread where every thought is written in sentences and each sentences starts with the initials DYK---it is fun, entertaining and a great way to meet the board members.

Who is going to bed, you or the three year old? :smileywink:. Hope tomorrow is a better day for both of you. For what it's worth, I have a 15 year old that has thrown fits today for the following reasons, I asked him to put away his phone and stop texting and actually talk to me while we were waiting to spend $300 on his hs textbooks, I didn't respond immediately to his phone call and text to come and pick him up early from a BBQ, I haven't MADE dh get a better paying job, we can't buy him a new bike, we can't buy a
new car, and I asked him to clean up the floor in his room.

Believe me, if I could have went to bed already I would have. Both kids are still up. Madison just got up to go to the bathroom, which I guess since she's no longer wearing diapers to bed is good, just wish she was asleep. And Emma is in our bed, still not asleep because if I put them into bed both awake, they fight and talk and keep each other up. Sigh. I am making zucchini chocolate chip muffins, though they have the "evil" grains in them. It seems like no matter what I do, I do the research, I look up and make new healthier recipes, even when no one eats them, I still get the "grains are evil, stop using them" even if they are gluten free like the new one I am trying, amaranth. Well, Mr. I am going to eat out most of the week, come home and eat leftovers, but complain that they are not healthy enough to his liking. I seriously am going to stop cooking for everyone pretty soon! Sorry, very frustrated today.

DYK I ended up spending most of the day home after my truck broke down at Emma's Kung fu ceremony and I had to take it to the garage. They will have my truck at least til Monday evening or maybe longer :0(

Dyk I broke down and had K stay with Jax and as I pulled away said, "I bet he's going to poo, he hasn't yet!" Sure enough, he did 5 minutes after we left and kept going and going. Kenzie had to think quick twice and put him on the toilet. LOL

Dyk the Tournament sucks...serves me right, I guess. The defense has been almost nonexistent. We had a decent game today. Teagen had a terrible start to the tournament, but then again she saw more shots on goal in that game, then she did in the tournament she played earlier this month. She saw 55 on Thursdays game and last tournament was a whopping 49 shots for 3 games! CRAZY. We play in the playoff game tomorrow against a team we have yet to beat. They have been hot and cold all weekend, so it has to be our turn. Then again, not in the mood to watch another blowout by the Canadians! So it does not matter to me whether we go to thw Championship! The other goalie played the harder team and that score was 12-1; T played the even matched team and we lost 2-1! T took a penalty shot like a champ, it was such a good game, didn't care that they lost!

Our girls had it pretty rough today.  My volleyball team lost both matches, 3 games per match.  They lost all games but one and finally got it together for the last game and won it.  They were all glued in thier spots and were just not moving.  It was aggrivating to watch.  They do so well in practice but flop for games.  Not sure what to do.  I am going to have to try some drills that get them moving.  They were slow and suggish.  Make them do everything at a faster pace.  We play after lunch so I am sure that is part of it.  Remind them to eat well and no sweets anytime before the game.

The eating part amazes me. When I coached swimming, I would ask the swimmers what they eat before a meet. I don't know if they were being sarcastic with me, but I reamed them out. One of the girls was a Zones swimmer and she always ate crappy before meets, she said I eat burgers and fries (her parents even used to say that she should get a McDonalds sponsorship). One meet she hammered down a half a box of cheese it's before her 500 free, got out and puked on the deck...all I could say was, "next time, listen to me and eat a banana/apple!"

Getting kids to eat right is tough in the first place, add athletics to that and it's even worse. Trying to get 3000 good quality calories into Evan in a day is next to impossible. We made a lot of trips to my parents about two hours away overe the summer and that led to far too many trips through the drive through. Both kids have developed a McDs habit. Thank goodness school has started and we can get back to meals at the dining room table. Getting them to eat properly at meets is such a struggle. We bring healthy food and either they plough right through it and come to us hungry or they virtually ignore it and then don't do their best. Arghhhh!
