**For those uncertain to what a DYK thread is......**
DYK stands for Did You Know or Do You Know
It is simply a chit chat thread where every thought is written in sentences and each sentences starts with the initials DYK---it is fun, entertaining and a great way to meet the board members.

When Kristen went to James Madison last year for her music audition- it was the same day as their prospective student day. Which was also on President's day- so none of the high school kids would miss school. I don't remember if the kids looking to get into sports had a separate day to talk/ interview or not.
The scholarship competition she had for Lynchburg was on a Friday- but it's a much smaller school than JMU. On that day, they also had separate interviews/ groups for kids looking to get into sports. They don't have a football team, but from what Kristen's told me their field hockey team is pretty good. And my neighbor's daughter-in-law played on a softball team at Virginia Weslyan and she said they played Lynchburg sometimes too.
East Carolina had their open house/ auditions for music students on a Saturday. There were 3 different dates she could choose, and I think they were all Saturdays.
Have fun. I'm assuming it's just you and Jordyn going? It was kind of a pain to drive 1000+ miles over the span of 3 weeks- but I have to admit it was so much fun doing that with Kristen

Yes Cheryl, it'll be just her and I. It'll be the first time in a long time we've spent much one on one time together and I am really looking forward to it. I'm a bit stressed about the little girls and DH for that weekend, especially not knowing business wise how busy he will be, what his employee will be able to handle for him, and having "on call" babysitters arranged. I had tried to arrange for my parents, or at least my mom, to be in town that weekend to help out, but she wasn't able to. I am sure it'll all work out and I am worrying for nothing, but you know...
Ahh, that does explain it! I just put homecoming into Oregon's search engine and yep, homecoming is the weekend we are there! Wow, that will be an interesting thing to experience, especially for me, the one who never lived at college!
None of the schools Kristen looked at paid for a hotel room
But then again- with the very generous scholarships she has right now- $150 for a hotel room for a night is a bargain
We had to pay even for that 1 night that we went there for orientation. I had no choice- it was either stay there or drive 2 round trips there in 24 hours. It would have been nice if dh and I could have gone. But it was a week after graduation, and dh had already taken off a week and a half due to all of the "stuff" that went on here over graduation.
