Jordyn's state reading exam is tomorrow. She was just complaining, apparently they have all day to do it and once they are finished, they have two options, either read (a novel only, no comics, magazines, no puzzle books either, or they can sleep).
Well apparently the sitter didn't feed Emma or she's going through a growth spurt. I had Jordyn put in Salisbury Steak in the oven and there are 6 patties. Emma ate 3 and Jordyn ate 2 1/2, and I think she actually won't eat the other 1/2 so I have some. Normally we can get through with the 6 patties just fine. So now i have to find something else for me to eat for dinner. Jordyn argued with me about eating the last patty, but I told her, if she's hungry, eat it, that's what parents do, sacrifice for their kids. Its just dinner, I can find something else to eat.
now why would sleeping be more appropriate than reading a comic, magazine, or doing a puzzle book?
That makes no sense.
But after state testing is the only time I will allow a student to put his/her head down. It might not be the best practice in terms of safety, but I remember how tiring standardized testing can be.
if I remember correctly, we don't allow students to do any kind of writing while the test booklets are still out...like puzzles, but only because they might accidentally get writing on their test booklets.
But once test booklets are picked up, they can. We pick up test booklets when everyone in the room (not the school) is finished with their tests.
