It's called Bird Beak Buffet--and it's actually ALL over the Internet. You use tools to pick up items and make analogies to different types of bird beaks and what they eat.
We did a FUN game today on carrying capacity, where the students were penguins. Most of the students didn't "live" through the activity--the limiting factor was food, and many didn't get enough food. Only 2 "parents" survived (there was 1 parent in each class that had to feed a baby, too).
Then I had the kids draw a made up animal using the same art technique as Dr. Seuss of black and white and two primary colors. Well first of all these 7th graders didn't know what primary colors were, then they couldn't follow the directions. Really how hard is it, black & white with TWO colors! Some of the animals are cute though.
There's this one kid who is super smart in science, but doesn't follow directions, so he never has a great grade in the class. He did some vocabulary word cards incorrectly that I took up for ONE BONUS POINT, and he tried to argue me into giving him the one bonus point when he did it wrong!
