DYK Thread for February

**For those uncertain to what a DYK thread is......**

DYK stands for Did You Know or Do You Know

It is simply a chit chat thread where every thought is written in sentences and each sentences starts with the initials DYK---it is fun, entertaining and a great way to meet the board members

Below are some fun DYK blinkies--feel free to snag any if you like:

yes, Ash Wednesday is a no-meat day just like Fridays in Lent.

So, they did cheese pizza instead of grilled chicken sandwiches. I wonder if our new cafeteria manager is Catholic or if this is coming from the school board. Because they're having fish sandwiches tomorrow...yuck!

Aly's in World History this year, but I don't think they started learning of the different religions yet. I hope her teacher's not behind (first year teaching this subject) like her science teacher was last year.

our cafeteria manager e-mailed the whole school (teachers, paras, etc) that said "In lieu of Ash Wednesday, we will not be serving grilled chicken, but have cheese pizza instead."

Well, if Aly's behind, I know what to do this year. Last year, I was too stupid to look at the curriculum and say, hold up, they haven't done the last 4 (of only 8) units and all are being tested. So, even though she had Advanced (the highest) in Science in 3rd AND 4th grade, she got Mastery (a step down) in 5th grade in Science. She missed the most questions in Earth & Space Science, the last 2 units of the curriculum, which they never got to even in May.
