DYK Thread for February

**For those uncertain to what a DYK thread is......**

DYK stands for Did You Know or Do You Know

It is simply a chit chat thread where every thought is written in sentences and each sentences starts with the initials DYK---it is fun, entertaining and a great way to meet the board members

Below are some fun DYK blinkies--feel free to snag any if you like:

Alright, wearing the dress. DH just called, he's on his way, but he didn't say how long he'd be. He's just going to meet me there, then as soon as its over he has to leave again to go to another job tonight...

Gonna leave now, talk to you guys later.

Thank goodness they got rid of the half-day inservices for us. It was a waste of teaching time, and then we were so wiped up from dealing with students on a low-work day (more chaos) that the in-service was useless, too. They finally listened to the teachers a couple years ago.

But we still have 2 half-days a year--the last day before Christmas and the last student day of school (though this year's might be a whole day due to the snow & hurricane days). The last day for Christmas, everybody leaves at half a day. But the last day of school, of course we all have work to do--stuffing envelopes and tying up the end-of-year things.

7th grade is American history in Louisiana. 8th grade is a mix of Louisiana history with a review of world & American history.

China. Seriously.

It was in a book that I borrowed from (and have since returned) the library. One of my students found it. I was so upset.

I thought The Book Thief WAS an adult book. *blush*

I've only just heard of it recently.

It wasn't the President Theodore Roosevelt that was the first American to shoot a panda, it was his sons--Theodore and Kermit.
