DYK Thread for February

**For those uncertain to what a DYK thread is......**

DYK stands for Did You Know or Do You Know

It is simply a chit chat thread where every thought is written in sentences and each sentences starts with the initials DYK---it is fun, entertaining and a great way to meet the board members

Below are some fun DYK blinkies--feel free to snag any if you like:

Oh, no...I'm sorry. No, I'm not upset a student found that. It's history. I was upset because I loved and respected Theodore Roosevelt, until I found out that he killed a panda, but then it wasn't him after all.

I wasn't upset about the student finding that in research. It was on Wikipedia, too and I offered that a research website.

On another note, I did show a video Wed where they showed sharpshooters shooting a nutria rat. It wasn't gory or gruesome (no blood, and it actually looked quite comical...I know that's sad to say). But I did give them the option to put their heads down when that came on--I told them before they watched the video exactly when to do so, and told them I'd let them know when to look up. The whole part only lasted about 10 seconds, so most of the students were upset that it was so quick and not gory...lol.

I think 2 or 3 students put their heads down (truthfully, I had a few others that pretended to just to be funny---some that put their heads down also hunt themselves *eye roll*). I do have a vegetarian student, I know she would've been very upset about it, but she wasn't at school.

that's good that it all worked out for the best. I'm sorry they were stuck with her for those 2 days.

The boys both got new decks for their skateboards, so they are off fixing them.
