on the paycheck saga for awhile, I promise... A little background first. Dh took a job with a small tech consulting firm owned by a close friend of his in July. The guy is a good businessman and is really good person. I've met him many times and he has personally gotten me out of one or two tight spots. The business just ran into some accounting (the accountant who used to keep an eye on cashflow died of cancer last year and they've been dealing with part-time and unqualified personnel since then) trouble so... Dh talked to him today and laid his cards on the table. He pretty much said "hey I really believe in what we're doing but I need to feed my family so you'll have to excuse me if my mind isn't on the job and I spend some time trying to make money in other ways". Basically the company has cashflow issues but is owed a ton of money by two large clients. That money should hit in the next 4 - 6 weeks. The guy offered to give dh a flat sum of money (from his personal accounts) to tide us over until the receivables are back in order. Our next job is to come up with that amount. Obviously, it has to be reasonable but at the same time I don't want to be in poverty until Christmas.
I actually feel much better now that I know exactly what's going on. It might be a slim birthday (11/25) for Evan and a slim Christmas but I'm looking at it as a chance to simplify our lives and experience what the holidays are really all about.

thats a great way to put it.
Just wanted to say thanks for all your support everyone! This is the only place I've had to talk about this and it has helped tremendously! I'm ready to handle things now that I know what we're facing. It's MUCH easier than fearing the worst. Oh, and insurance is paid up for this month so at least we can take care of prescriptions, Evan's allergy shots, and any other medical things that come up.
I can get up and tackle the world head on in the morning! Health club is paid through spring, utilities were low so things are gonna be okay!
Thanks again everyone!
