Flat Irons?

I love my new haircut, but when he finished it off, he used a flat iron.  WhIle it looks good dried with a round brush, it is a bit more flyaway.  It looked more Jen Anistonish with the flat iron. Disclamer-- I am not in not any way delusional enough to say that I look like Jen Aniston, just the sleekness and nagles of my haircut.   Is it a challeng to use in the back?  My hair is thick and staight and below my shoulders.  Anyone have a flat iron to recommend or tips in using one?

I use one, I have thick very wavy/curly hair, and I have it thinned out, but I don't flat iron it often because it curls back up with any humidity.  When I do flat iron it, I pull it up in sections with a clip and just do a section at a time and do small sections of hair to get it nice and straight.  I also put a smoothing serum in it, Jordyn and I both use one by John Frieda, its a bit pricey, but since I don't use it often it lasts a long time.  You can usually get a smaller travel sized bottle to try it out at Target.  Jordyn has thick wavy hair and she straightens her's often.  She has an expensive Chi straightening iron and what she does is she straightens it at night before bed and then sleeps on it, it will made it so its not so "puffy" straight, and then if she finds anything she missed or needs a bit more work she'll do it in the morning again quickly.

The only other thing i do is I tend to just curl mine with a big curling iron, it straightens and curls the ends at the same time. I'll wash my hair at night, sleep on it so it dries overnight and then I'll run the curling iron through it in the morning and curl the ends.  Its actually quicker for me to do it this way and I feel like it actually straightens better than with the straightening iron.

We have a flat iron that floats around our house. It's a wet dry and I find my hair works better when I flat iron it from being wet. Natalie does both and does fine. She and I both have thick hair so the wet to dry works a lot better for both of us. We use the sling the hair over the shoulder way and go from underneath.
