Ok - at what age do you find your children consistently flushing toilets?

I have a 10.5 yo dd ----- and she often does not flush - is that weird ----- or par for the course?!

You think THAT'S bad?? My DH doesn't always close the bathroom door all the way!! I follow him and do it for him. He is better than he used to be, because I got all over him about it one day. Our 5 year-old daughters do not need to see him standing there!!

He is the least modest person you will ever meet and it drives me nuts. He is private with other things, I think he can be private about his body, too, but I guess that comes with him being a doctor and studying/seeing the body so much it is just no big deal to him. Whatever. . .

My 10 year-old DS has gotten very modest lately though. He locks the bathroom door when he takes a shower these days. It cracks me up.

Now if I could just get him to put down the toilet seat and flush. . . Maybe if I make it a modesty issue. . .

Ok, I have to say that I am finding this a fascinating conversation, I had NO idea that there were adults who regularly do not flush when visiting others, that's just GROSS.

I am going to forever count my lucky stars that not only my dh, my MIL, my mother, all my siblings, AND both my kids flush regularly. And, to top it off, my dh and my son put down the seat (and the top, usually). I already knew I was lucky there, but the flushing is news to me!

I have other kids over often and have noticed the seat up a lot and an occasional forgotten flush, now I'll have to pay attention to see if it's a repeat offender!

Dh and I don't flush at night, typically, because the water rushes down the walls and sounds REALLY loud in my daughter's room for some (poorly planned) reason. We got into the habit when she was a baby and wanted NOTHING to wake her, and now it's just a habit. But we ONLY ONLY do that in the middle of the night when neither of us are even half awake and it really isn't gross for some reason.

Ok, so that was way more information than anyone needed to know.

Until a few years ago, Kurt was afraid to flush the toilet. He used to stand in the bathroom and cry when he was a toddler. Then he'd have to leave the room and I would flush it. Then he progressed to finishing everything and the he would do a flush and run. he's still in that stage now. Soooo, he forgets to flush every once in a while. Since he has made so much progression (lol) I don't say anything to him about it.

In fact, I tell my kids that if no one is over and they just pee, they don't have to flush. Its such a waste of water. I don't know if that is gross or not. lol
