Hey Denise, we were just having a discussion on the DYK thread about XM....I got it 2 yrs ago w/my new minivan & have kept it....have an additional receiver for DH to use in car & at home....my older dd likes it cuz she's getting into music now too.
We are very into music....I am listening to XM, streaming on my PC here at work, our family has eclectic tastes due to the fact DH is a musician (studied jazz guitar). Glad someone else enjoys XM too ;-)
1. What have you been listening to lately (be specific if you can)? The song "No One" by Alicia Keyes and a Debussy piece I'm working on on the piano. I've found it's easier for me to learn a piece if I listen to it alot.
2. Where do you listen to music the most? Why? How (device-wise) do you use to listen to your music? Are you happy with it? Why/why not? I mostly listen to music around the house and in the car. Usually to keep me company. Don't like silence. I usually listen to it on my ipod or the car radio. Love the ipod, don't like the car radio very much.
3. Are there any concerts or shows you're going to in the next few months, or want to go to? What are they? Does the Hannah Montana movie count? Planning on going 2/1 with Megan and a group of her friends and their moms.
4. What about your tween/teen--what types of devices do they use to listen to music? Ipod (he bought it himself) Evan listens to Green Day and he's into the soundtrack from Alvin and the Chipmunks at the moment.
5. What type of music do they listen to most often? rock/rap
Oh yeah!
DH loved my XM so much that for last Christmas I bought him a portable receiver so he could use it in his car since his car is older & not wired for XM. U do need an additional subscription which I think is $6.99/mo but I got the receiver free when I bought the additional subscription (that was the holiday promo). I just checked the website & they r running a similar promo -- a free Sportscaster receiver w/an additional subscription, u can check it out.
Oh and my DH loves the one hit wonders too....I tend to listen to Fred/Lucy (my girls like this too), and Deep Tracks. Also when we drive to Baltimore or out of town we like being able to get the traffic reports for those places w/out trying to search for a station ;-)
