This year Gab's teachers make them write in cursive for certain thing.Gab has to write her spelling tests in cursive.A few months back she had to write a poem in cursive then she got points taken off because she forgot to cross the T.Kind of silly to suddenly expect them to write cursive in 6th grade, when they never expected it or really taught it that much in the earlier years.Gabby will print if she can,and she types the majority of her assigments. She hates writing in cursive,so do I I usually print everything.
1. You go out to dinner and there are only two things on the menu--which would you chose? --Chicken Cordon Bleu --Filet Mignon with bleu cheese crumbles
Filet Mignon (but I'd prefer a seafood dish, probably)
2. When you go to a restaurant, do you drink the water?
yes
3. When writing daily, do you tend to write in cursive or print?
cursive
4. STOP---jump over to your personal email and tell us how many emails are in the INBOX? How many are unread?
Something like 300 e-mails, over 100 unread...mostly forwards from my cousin.
5. What is the first thing you do in the morning when you leave your bedroom?
But I think it's easier to read than regular cursive, but my students still ask me to only write in print when they have to copy something from the board (RARE since I have an inFocus and I just type everything in Word and pull that up instead).
one of my students commented a few weeks ago, "Why'd they make us learn cursive in elementary school and tell us that we HAVE to write in cursive in middle school? Nobody makes us write in cursive?"....lol
My choice is whatever is legible...I just need to be able to read it or else I can't grade it!
Aly's cursive is BEAUTIFUL!!!!!! Her print looks like a 2nd grader's and she doesn't form the words properly. But she prefers print.
