Good morning ladies, 11 days til Christmas, 7 days til Winter Solstice, and apparently I missed the start of Hanukkah, sorry about that!  What are in your plans for this weekend?  When are the kids out of school?

My kids have their first day of Christmas break on the 21st.  I have a final that day, then I am done too.  Kids go back on January 2, but I don't have to go back until January 14.  I am taking 4 classes for Spring Semester:  College Writing II, Astronomy, Digital Photography and Sociology.  Everything except College Writing will be online, so I will be spending far less time in my vehicle, thank goodness.

Thanks Tracy. Wish it has been a fun time. *sigh* Natalie not feeling to well took it out on us. She had a one track mind, herself and what she wanted. We are all done shopping for her, I keep telling her that. I finally had to look her in the eye and tell her stop think about "me and what I want" and think about give, giving a gift. I finally got her focused on picking something for her dad. Then, on top of that I had all three of them saying "mom!" and I felt like I was going in 20 different directions. Katie realized what was going on and apologized and said she didn't want to say mom anymore cause they were all saying it so much. I finally told them to just go find something that I could not find whatever for them. So they finally dispersed and went shopping. It was tiring. We came home and rested and I took Nat to a comic book store to find something for Matthew and then we dropped in at the Mall for a look in Claire's and Hot Topic. So, the kids and I are all done shopping. I need to review my stocking stuffers. I think I am lacking there for a few people.

Hi everyone.  Yesterday, we spent the afternoon at work on lock-in with a level I sheriff assisted dismissal. Luckily, the children of the teachers in our district who attended Sandy Hook Elementary all got home safely to their parents.

Dh, the kids and I all went to the 4H holiday social/achievement night last night

Today, the kids are going Christmas shopping together at the mall.  I'll get some chores done at home this morning. In the afternoon, we are all going out shopping for a Christmas tree.  Tonight, probably addressing cards since I finally picked mine up yesterday.

Tomorrow, I guess we are trimming the tree.

The Hobbit was wonderful.  I felt like I was back in Middle Earth.  It plays with the timeline of the book and there is a lot added, but we thought the added part will eventually tie it in with the LOTR movies which the book doesn't do.   My only complaint is that I have to wait a year to see the next installment! We're looking forward to seeing it again.

I do not have words to express how angry upset and sad I am byyet another school shooting. What a disgusting waste of life and potential and loss of inncoence and security. My hearts go out to those in your community.

Maybe have them make a list next time and do their pre-shopping in their heads and on paper so they are ready once at the stores. Did you figure out stocking stuffers for Matthew?

Basically, I did Heather. I need to go pick up a few I remembered I was getting for him and I found some yesterday. Now Tim and my mom.  I need to make sure I have enough for Matthew though.

Do you kids count and keep track if it is even in terms of money spent of number of gifts? This never occurred to me being an only and having an only, but MIL recently brought up the idea with DH and SIL and we were stunned since they are grown ups.
