Hi everyone. Just checking in. School is going well for the kids and me. I had a big test in Environmental Science yesterday and I am waiting for my instructor to post the grades(fingers crossed). So far I have As in both of my other classes. DH is on an elk hunting trip in Colorado and will be back sometime tomorrow. DS had a home football game last night and they trounced the other team 66 to 12. DD is mad at me because I made her come home right after the game. She had made plans to go out with The BF to someone's house for a bonfire. However, she was being truly horrible to DS and me the other day. I did not yell at her or punish her immediately because I wanted to think of what would truly be a punishment to her. Yelling does not work. Revoking driving privileges does not work, because it ends up being punishment for me. I finally decided that making her come home early on Friday night would be the most powerful thing. Not only was she mad about having to stay home when all her friends were having a good time, but she was embarrassed that I called her on her behavior in front of The BF. I was not mean about it and I didn't say anything to humiliate her; I didn't even raise my voice. I just calmly explained that I did not like how she spoke to me or her brother, that it was not a "conversation" as she put it, but downright meanness, so since she does not have the maturity to speak to other members of this household respectfully, she is not mature enough to handle a social situation. She went storming upstairs, muttering something about how I was being "retarded", which I find extremely offensive, so she will probably end up having to come right home next Friday too. The only other thing I could think of is hitting her in the pocketbook and fining her when she is mean. Except then she probably wouldn't end up having enough money for gas to get to work. **sigh**. I have spent the morning working on a paper for my College Writing class. It has taken me all morning and into the afternoon. Now I have to compare it to Helen Keller's "Everything Has A Name" essay. I also need to run some errands and get some outside chores done. Today and tomorrow are the last nice warm days we will probably see for quite a while.

I love football season too! I grew up going to my grandparents' every Sunday to watch the *gasp* Packers play. If there were enough of us we would have a family pool. Good times!

Hi all, TGIF especially for me - four day weekend yahoo!

Went into work early for a baby shower for two coworkers.  Then it was just a half day for students. I spent the afternoon in yet another DASA training, luckily we were let out a little early.  I took a nap.  Kayleigh spent her half day riding her bike and prepping something for her bff's party tonight.  Ian just hung out here at home.

Kayleigh and I are going to her bff's party tonight.  It's on the level of a sweet 16 but she is turning 17.  I haven't seen the hall where it's being held, but looking forward to food and music and seeing the teens have a good time.

Tomorrow is our 22nd wedding anniversary.  We'll be going out to lunch, and then getting celebratory Chinese and watching a Once Upon a Time marathon in the evening. Kayleigh plans to be at her bff's in the morning (she's sleeping over tonight )and then cycling. Not sure what Ian is going to be up to.

Sunday, I'm having a coffee/tea date with a friend in the morning. I'm sure Kayleigh will be out cycling and I'll probably spend the rest of the day cleaning.  Might go to the mall with Ian, who needs jeans and long sleeved shirts, but we might wait until Monday

Awesome luck for DH! Ya, da Bears did not have a good game. We were sorta routing for them, couldn't decide which was the lesser of two evils, having them 2-0 to starte the season or having them both 1-1 since we'll likely lose Sunday night also, so we'll all 3 be tied for 1st at 1 and 1. Gosh I LOVE football season!

Lots to do this weekend. Megan and I are doing a quick up and back trip to the barn for a lesson on Saturday and then I have to spend the remainder of the weekend getting things in order so everyone has what they need while I'm gone next week. That means groceries, bank, laundry, cleaning, bills, etc. Basically, a week's worth of work in a day and a half. I'm really afraid dh is going to arrange rides for the kids to places, take off for Aikido, and leave them to fend for themselves... He's been better lately but I'm still not convinced he's figured out that we need him around more often. To his credit, Evan was being a jerk on Wednesday and he stayed home from Aikido so the three of us could talk things out. Of course he's going tonight instead but he was there when we needed him. :smileyhappy:

Sunday Evan has a free session to discuss PSAT results with the company that administered the free test last weekend. We have been invited to dinner at my aunt's house on Sunday for my uncle's birthday. Not sure I really want to go. Everyone will want to talk about my Dad's surgery and I'm just not up for that. My cousin will be there with her kids and I really don't like the kids. They're brats... My kids don't like them either. My uncle did help Evan get into the Oxford program last summer so I suppose it's the polite thing to do. :smileytongue:

On the bright side, someone was looking out for dh yesterday. He got a great parking spot at work, came out to a dead battery in the car- dealership right next door, got a jump. Went to get a new battery and made a wrong turn to get to one auto supply store and ended up in the parking lot of another where the battery was cheaper. Got home and all tools needed to do the installation were exactly where they should have been, he even finished installing the battery in time to watch the second half of the Bears game (should have done something else, not the Bears best).
