Happy Friday, everyone!  I hope you've all enjoyed the holiday week.  What are you up to today? What does your family have planned for the weekend?

Have a wonderful day!

This morning I read and played with the pups while DH and Zeph played on the Wii.  We got our first real snow today and I dragged us all out to a forest preserve to go on a hike.  Frodo (the beagle) loved it and he's great on a leash.  Buffy, the hound, has horrible leash manners and just pulls and it is not at all relaxing to take her for a walk.  The scenery was beautiful and it was warm enough to snow and bewarm in light winter jackets with hats and gloves.  The dogs came home wiped out and the fresh air was good for us all.  Way to much screen time all around this break.

After lunch I napped, DH "worked" though it sounded like watching Star Wars Lego episodes.  Then it was to Target to for DS to spend some of his holiday money-new Nerf.   Then we went to Toys R Us since Target was out of the Lego set he wanted.  The Lego set was $20 more than at Target so he chose not to get it.  Once we came home, I found it on Amazon for list price and ordered it plus a case and screen covers for his iTouch.  Zeph seemed to think it was dull to spend his money on the later 2 items- welcome to growing up!

About to order pizza for a late dinner.  Then I need to tear Zeph off of my laptop-he's playing Rome Total War another new purchase.  This is the first holiday that we didn't require half of all his gift money went into his savings account.  He's got enough in there to pay for his Associates and books even with some tuition inflation.  I was hoping he would select to put some money into savings, but the $10 was significantly less than I had hoped.  I bit my tongue since I told him it was up to him. We are reinstituting allowance at the beginning of the year after quite a hiatus.  We recently realized that he is way behind on managing money compared to his friends. It's time to fix that. We think he should be saving some for his future, some for larger items, some for charity, and have some to just spend,  we're not sure how to do it.  Should he just devise his own precetage system or should he decide on a month to month basis?  Currently we pay for all clothes, events, snacks at events, freind birthday gifts, etc.  I'm not sure what we will require for him to take on.   DH and I are unsure of how much allowance should be- enough to have money to manage, but we don't want to be overly generous.  Thoughts are welcome.

Just finishing up some food that thhe kids are taking to a pot luck party. DS is bringing a few friends back with him to sleep over, and then they are headed to the city with DH tomorrow morning. DH and I are headed over to some friends for the evening while the kids are out. Tomorrow DD and I are going to do so errands while the boys are out. Shhas as a pair of boots that need to be exchanged at Nordstrom

and we need to decide what we are making for DH birthday dinner and get him a gift. Sunday I hope to have a relaxation day and just do a few loads of laundry. Holidays at my in laws are a workout and I am tired from all the cooking, dishes, cleaning, taking down the decorations etc.

I have spent the entire day cleaning, doing laundry, made 3 trips to the transfer station (1 with trash, the other 2 with recycling), went to the bank, the post office and now I have spent the past THREE HOURS trying to pay bills online.  Apparently our bank was targeted by cybercriminals and I have had extreme difficulty getting on the bank's website to pay our bills.  I had to resort to going to each company's website or calling to pay by phone.  Oh, and this is on top of sorting out the mess that resulted in making DH in charge of picking up the mail and paying the bills.  He doesn't like either job, therefore, doesn't think it's necessary to do either of them.  As a result, he missed a notice from our insurance company.  His failure to respond to it caused them to stop paying any of our claims.  I am so flipping irritated.  **sigh**

Anyway, no big plans for the weekend.  DH escorted his mother back home yesterday.  He is spending the day in Nashville today and will be coming back home tomorrow.  DS is attending a basketball tournament and will be there until at least 9:00 tonight, DD went with The BF to run some errands and will be eating supper at his house, so it is just the dogs and me here right now.  Tomorrow DS will be at the basketball tournament for the final day, DD has to work until 3:30, and I think I will be working on  our home office so I have a place to do my schoolwork with fewer distractions.  All my classes are online except for college writing II, so I want to have a space where I can go and shut the door and (I hope) not be interrupted.

I am so ready for these kids to go back to school.  My house is a wreck cause of them and their laziness.  Dishes, stuff, and garbage are every where.  The plan is to get them busy after lunch.  I am putting away groceries also.  Dishes need loaded into the dishwasher.

Saturday we are suppose to head up to Nashville but to be honest I do not want to go.  Besides that my check engine light came on in my car yesterday and I think the transmission is slipping.  Not sure though.

Sunday, nothing that I kow of right now.  What ever comes up I guess.

Hi all, so glad to be free of the inlaws, yippee!  I went food shopping this morning.  Tonight, my book club is having our holiday meeting/party here at my house.  I am spending the afternoon cleaning and setting up. Ian is going to try to shovel the walkway and de-ice the walk and driveway.  Kayleigh plans to meet a friend or two at Starbucks tonight.  Ian and DH are going to the movies to see Starfall.

Tomorrow is a free day for me!  I'll relax, catch up on things around the house, maybe so some outing with Ian.  Kayleigh is taking the train into NYC. She is meeting my niece there. They are going to brunch and catching a Beatles tribute band at BB King's.

On Sunday, my sister and her husband are coming over, so I'll be making a nice dinner. I am looking forward to visiting with them, but it feels like all I have done over the vacation is make food and eat
