Finally, a decent night's sleep last night!  No real plans for today for the most part.  Errands at lunch as of right now and I need to mail a scholarship package for Jordyn that has to be postmarked today.  Tonight I need to clean out the truck and get it packed, laundry and packing of bags for the weekend.  Nothing planned for dinner, probably leftovers.  Jordyn has a basketball game tonight.

Jordyn has a cheerleading competition out of town this weekend, so we are attending that.  I need to look up directions and everything.  She and another cheerleader are going to drive separately as its hard to fit 3 people in the backseat with 2 carseats, and I don't plan on staying for the awards Sunday evening.  The extra cheerleader is staying in the hotel with us for this competition and then Jordyn is going to stay with them at the next competition in 3 weeks as I am not going to that one.   They compete at 2:30 both tomorrow and Sunday from what Jordyn said, though I need to look up the schedule online, so we'll need to leave around 8:30 tomorrow morning.  Hoping to be back in time for the Superbowl on Sunday.  We may meet a friend at the children's museum Sunday before the competition, and possibly do the zoo or something tomorrow afternoon after the competition, we'll have to see what time they are finished and how the weather is.

Not sure what DH is doing this weekend yet.  Work has picked up for him this week which has been good in some ways (he's busy and gone a lot more), and bad in some ways (he's gone a lot more and its been a bit hard to get some communicating and coodination of things done).  If he opts to stay home this weekend I am going to leave him with a chore list, he has not helped out much in the last 2 weeks and I've been very frustrated with it.  If I have the kids the whole weekend out of town, there is no reason he can't be doing a few things around the house for me.

Have a good one!!

Morning.  I feel a bit better this morning.  I was surprised to wake up to no aches or pains and my head felt lots better.  I am not going to say I had my worst until I get through today.  I've been popping ibuprofen every 6-8 hours.  I ran a fever last night even with taking ibuprofen, it wasn't high with it but I knew I was probably pretty high without it.  Matthew is home with it now.  He woke up with the aches this morning and a nasty sore throat.  Tim is going to pick up dinner tonight for us since I am sick.  I am sleeping my day away today.  I may do the dishes, but nothing else.  I opened up our checking account this morning and saw our refunds were pending so they will be in our account in the next few days.  This will show me to get our taxes done early from now on and to stop waiting until March.  LOL  My interview went very well yesterday.  There are a lot of loose strings about it that need to be tied up.  It's a part time temporary job that gets paid using grants and things that they use for research, so if they don't get enough in a grant or start running out of money I could lose the job.  Which I am alright with.  It's a foot in the door and it will give me a lead on other jobs on the campus since I will learn a new system they just started using.  So I can say I know it and that will give me a foot above anyone else.  It's such a gorgeous campus.  I'd love working there just for that reason alone.

Saturday and Sunday will be working on getting everyone all better.  Making sure Matthew is drinking water and gatorade.

Chelle, glad the interview went well.  I hope they get everything figured out and you get the job!!!!

And, since you mentioned it and I was just reading an article last night about how bad gatorade actually is with all the artificial ingredients including an additive called Brominated Vegetable Oil (BVO), here is a great link for helping hydrate kids after sickness or a work out instead of gatorade or pedialyte:

I filed Jordyn's through turbo tax yesterday and I went to check it today, it said it was accepted and that "The IRS expects to issue more than 9 out of 10 refunds in less than 21 days."  I know usually they give you a pretty specific date, I wonder if because its so early that they aren't doing that this year.  I rarely file this year for any of us.  Jordyn's was so easy though...  I wish ours was that easy.

That same ingredient is in Mountain Dew and after I read the article I have cut way back with my goal being to cut it out completely, but I need to wean my body off of the caffeine.  I'm down to 6 oz a day rather than 2 cans.

Wow, when we file electronically it always takes a few weeks to get our money.  What did you use to get it posted to your account so quickly?

It's good that you interviewed well despite being sick.  Hope everyone in your home is feeling better soon.

By the way, I checked Expedia for hotel prices- rather than going off of Trip Advisor - and I did find some in Quantico and Alexandria for around $100.  I'm glad you mentioned they were out there.  It let us see that we would be getting a low rate but 'paying' in time driving, the hassle of finding daily parking garages, etc.  DC sounds like a marvelous walking city so now I realize the price of being in the center of it all would give us the vacation experience we want.   I'm waiting to hear back from a travel agent about a Disney quote (trying to get free dining) before we make a destination decision.

Good morning!  DH just got back from dropping Buffy at the vet.  Now he is off to a client site.  If he's done by noon, we're all headed to an afternoon of bowling.  Afterwards, I'll bring Frodo to the vet for his ears and both pups will come home with me.

Saturday Zeph is volunteering at the lab at Fermi Lab.  I'm a little surprised that a mom (of the teen volunteer group) is providing food for the kids.  We don't do bake sales or potlucks or eat homemade food from people we don't know.  The volunteer coordinator thinks I'm a whack-a-doodle, but so be it.  Zeph hasn't decided if he's packing his own lunch or coming home after the morning shift.

Sunday I think we are going to take advantage of a Superbowl Strike offer at the eat in movie theater.  Laundry, the floors, and the bathrooms all need to be cleaned also plus grocery shopping sometime.   Hoping DH can get taxes figured out too.

I lived on Mt. Dew for about 15 years straight, especially to get me through college and working full time when Jordyn was little.  I had no idea until about a year ago when I finally got a doctor to tell me why I was so darn tired all the time and found out I had a severe thyroid problem.  After I started doing all the research I was AMAZED at what I found.  I still have one on occassion now, usually in times of high stress, but I am amazed at how much better I feel overall having given it up and changed my other eating habits.  I wish I had known this years ago, and now if I could get Jordyn to stop drinking so much of it!!!

I have no idea how we are getting our refund so quick honestly.  This is the first time I have have filed this early. I e-filed and chose direct deposit. I know doing that makes it come faster alone.

I don't worry the Gatorade and my kids drinking it cause they don't drink it a lot. Just when sick and for sports sometimes. It's seen as a treat cause they hardly ever have it.

We may not be going to DC after all.  I was finding it hard getting a hotel during the time we wanted for 5 people, turns out there is a March for Marriage that week of the kids Spring break.  It might have to wait till next year.  But also if I get this job I think we need to stay close so I only have a few days to make up instead of a whole week.

In my earlier post I forgot to mention at Natalie's appointment yesterday her doctor decided to put her in a foot cast. He's hoping this will immobilize her enough to get whatever is goin on in there to heal. So she walks around with a purple cast.

I am definitely feeling so much better today. I am willing to say my worst was last night. I am so glad it did not get bad. Thank goodness for my flu shot.

Taxes.  Yay.

I looked online.  Yes, we can use some sort of credit for Kristen's school, she's a 1st time student, she's at least 1/2 time and she's at an accredited school.  But then there was something about not being able to take some of the credit if money paid was from a Coverdell account.  And it was- but it was a Coverdell my MIL set up for her, and there's not a whole lot left in there (one more semester's worth).  I don't know.  We use Turbo Tax so hopefully that will tell us.  And we can't file until the middle of Feb- at least that's what Yahoo said since we've got education credits.  We'd take a part of the refund and just funnel it back into her college account.  That is- if we get to take this credit.

Oh yeah and I learned something.  Dual-enrollment classes are NOT considered in this.  Why?  The kid- even though they're taking a college course- is still a high school student and you have to be a college student in order to qualify.  That I got right off the IRS website- I was curious.  Kind of stinks, we paid $700 for those 2 dual-enrollment English classes Kristen took.  Plus the books.

We could do Kristen's taxes too, I'm sure they'd take no time at all.  She's not going to get a whole lot back, and I'm just wondering if maybe she should do them.

Paid bills today.  Fun fun.  Called the mortgage company b/c it's the first payment after our refinance and I thought we were getting money taken out 2x/ month.  Nope- only once.  I guess we could change it- I don't know if I want to or not.

Becca is 16 tomorrow.  She wants to go ice skating with a couple of her friends- then out to eat.  Then next weekend she wants to have another group of kids over to stay the night.  Whatever.  The girls are from 2 different high schools, and neither group knows each other.  If she wants it next weekend, she's going to have to have them come after the orchestra fundraiser.

Oh yeah that.  This year's board is SO unorganized.  It started off with them having none of the Sophomores in Chamber (and there's a couple of them) not put on the email list- so the trip they did in November- I didn't even know we owed money for it until a week before the kids left.  There has been NOTHING sent to us about the fund-raiser next week.  Becca doesn't even have any tickets for it.  I don't know if she was supposed to get them or what.  Becca said I should run for a board position next year.  I had a friend who was treasurer- and all she did the year she was in charge of it was complain.  Really don't know if I want that kind of drama in my life LOL.
