Frustrated swimsuit shopper

How many of you moms of preteen girls are frustrated with the swimsuit companies?! My daughter is finishing 6th grade and, taking after her mom, she's tall, so has grown out of her size 16 swimsuit. I went online to several websites, looking for a nice MODEST swimsuit for my 12-year-old and could not find anything with that description!! She is just starting to develop and of course self-conscious about her body. The junior sizes seem to all be designed to start a summer romance with whomever comes along. I finally decided to order a 16plus swimsuit from Landsend, hoping it won't be baggy on her, because her body is definitely not "plus" size (not that I'm putting down children that are), but she needs a suit that fits her long torso. She's worried that if we order a tankini that it will show her belly, which she doesn't want. We live in West Africa so she can't try swimsuits on, we just have to order and hope we find one that fits. I was also disappointed that LandsEnd no longer carries a long torso tankini for women(I have two from previous seasons). Mine were getting worn out and I was ready for a new one. Finally had to settle for a long torso tank. Any other Mom's in my situation?

I agree, it's very frustrating when they want to wear one kind and I'm shaking my head like she's lost her mind! She is barely 'budding' so she wasn't comfortable with the kids' suits because they didn't have much padding in the bra area to conceal what she's starting to get. Juniors were too SMALL in the material allowances! It took us about two weeks of argueing but we finally settled on two tankinis. They were both too big around the top because she's so small (Target didn't have XS junior suits) so I had to sew up the side a bit to make them fit around her torso. They are both halter top style, with a small 'pad' in the bust. So we both won!

My daughter is have the same problem but she says she has a big butt (but she really doesn't). So we bought the regular bottom part and attached a dance skirt. So maybe you could find material to match and add extra frill to tanki. Good luck :)
