Funeral procession question

I just posted on another board and wanted to ask here, too:

I just got a fwd e-mail from a friend and it was dealing with a funeral of a military person. It stated: In Texas we really do pull off the road and stop for funerals......nobody moves until the last car has gone by.

We do this in Louisiana, too.

Do other areas of the country NOT do this????

Not sure its a law here, is polite. But obviously in the middle of the city we can't just hold up traffic for 20 min. while a huge cortege goes but I think people are expected to pull over and let them pass. I know it used to happen where I grew up in Western Canada all the time in the country where I lived. I think while its nice to do, it is harder to implement the law in the city, especially in places near a funeral home where there may be several processions a day.

In Massachusetts we do not pull off the road. It is illegal to cut into a funeral procession, but the rest of the traffic continues to flow.

I'm not aware that it's illegal here in NY.
