I was wondering if anyone has found any reasonably inexpensive sources of clothing for girls who are of an age that they want to dress like teens, but still too small for junior or misses clothing.

I love Lands' End stuff. My dd is like yours in that she wants feminine but not girly girl stuff.

I love kohls.com! I have 3 girls who have radically different tastes and they all love kohls because they have such a good selection. Online, they often have great deals on shipping like free shipping if you spend over $75(easy thing with 3 girls) or $.99 per item.

Mackenzie is a 'barely 12' in girls' clothes but I have discovered that for TOPS, Target carries an extra small that usually fit her pretty well. Plus they seem to be cut skinnier than the 12's in the girls' dept!

Being the resident shopper (along with Caroline, of course-LOL).....I'd really love to help you but your post is kinda vague. You mentioned her being a tomboy....what WON'T she wear?? What of your older DD's does she borrow? That will help tremendously!

I agree with Laura though....you can't go wrong with Old Navy or The GAP. They offer adjustable waist bands in all of their pants, skirts and shorts and their clothes are very stylish for kids.

Hello Noelani, my dd now 12 use to wear the gap/old navy stuff. She liked it because the pants had the adjustable waist. You can check it out on-line. Please let us know what you find out.

You may also want to try the Children's Place and their web site. My dd (6) is our fashionista but isn't into frills and lace and we do pretty well there. My dh is Filipino and I'm only 5 feet tall so she's not exactly tall either but she has NO waist. I think the slims are pretty much online rather than in-store. I also bought her a pair of black flare-leg cotton twill pants (in a slim) at the GAP today and she LOVES them.

Good luck!!

P.S. My picky almost 10 yo ds LOVES Children's Place. I took him there before school and he picked out 4 outfits (if boys have "outfits") that he really likes and actually wears.
