I know this sounds dumb, but I've decided to do a blog about tips and tricks during the holidays.

I bake alot for the hoildays and alot of the cookies and breads freeze well so when I bake I do several kinds and freeze them. They make great gifts as well. Also our family has a hoilday decor exchange. We all bring a hoilday decor iteam to Thanksgiving and we trade with others. That way we always end up with a new decroation and dont have to spend any money.I will post more when I can think of some more.HTH

One life saver for me was the gift wrap holder. I think I bought it at Target. it hold your rolls of gift wrap and it has a little compartment up top to keep scrissor, tape and gift tags. There's nothing worse than searching all over the house for the scissors or the tape.

This might be lame -- but that's my tip.

Oh, also- I write on the bottom of ornaments that we are gifted : the date and who it's from. That way as we trim the tree year after year, we remember who gave us what.

I guess my tip is just do as much in advance as possible and one of your meals, spoil yourself and order in. I cook a nice dinner on Christmas day but Christmas eve we ALWAYS order pizza. We have chocolate fondu in the evening as well but I make sure all the fruit is cut up in advance, all the chocolate prepared and measured, then we just get to sit and watch TV and talk and wait for the pizza guy to deliver dinner. Its nice not to spend 2 days in the kitchen, one is plenty.

Something that helps me is to wrap as you buy. I hate being stuck with hours of wrapping close to christmas. As I wrap I keep a note of how many batteries or special things I need to make sure I have on christmas. Nothing worse than getting a new toy and not being able to use it because there aren't enough batteries.

I highly suggest online shopping vs store shopping. You can sit and compare prices, find free shipping, all from the comfort of your computer desk.
