Gabrielle has been giving me a hard time about doing her home work since Sept. It's gotten progressivlly worse despite the fact that she has lost points in multiple subjects, the teacher keeps having to send notes home and she got in trouble by the principal. She has no sense of responsibility she doesn't copy down her assinments properly and she procrastinates something awful. She sat in her room the other day for six hours and did't complete one assignment. I don't know what to do I can't keep driving myself crazy and I can't always be on top of her. What can/should I do about this?

Trish, I'm sorry you're going through this with Gabrielle.

Everything is extra money, DD goes to Catholic School. There is no study period, the afterschool program you have to pay for and she doesn't need extra help(like tutoring that would be a waste of money) she does well as far as grades(first honors)it's just bad homework habits. I'm trying to correct them now before the work load gets heavier in the upper grades. I keep warning her it doesn't get any easier.

Trish-
My daughter had problems like that about a year ago. I too did not have time to sit down with her. But I realized that in order for her to understand she needs to do it. I had to find out how she learned. Once I did that I now know that reading upside down works for her. Although I hate that. However, I have made her sit in quiet rooms and helped her as much as I could. Its hard and things to lack around the house. But you need to find out what works for her. Trial and error as a dr would say. I wish you the best and keep showing her you care. Becides by the time she gets older she will figure it out.

Thanks for the encouragement I know I should have more patience but after five months of school already. I don't know what else to try. I'm glad your daughter found her groove for studing and homework, even if you don't exactly approve at least it's working for her. I'll keep trying if you can think of anything else I can do just keep me posted.-Thanks again!
