Gosh, I've always thought she had to be insane to commit that horrible act. I think in a lot of ways it was an easier sentence to be in prison for life than to go to a mental institution.

I wish there was the option of GUILT by reason of insanity. So she would still be guilty but yet get the help she needs.

I think this was the correct vertict. The woman was/is clearly insane. If anything, I think the husband shares in the blame for the death of the children. He should have never left the children alone with her.

I agree that there should be an option of guilt and insanity combined.

I am torn on this. I suffered from PPD and you really don't realize you have it. Its not that you are all sunny and happy on Monday and wake up on Tuesday depressed. It creeps up on you and you just think you are "normal", you don't notice the difference. However my ex DID notice the difference and basically made me go to the Dr. for medication. It worked wonders in very little time. Thankfully my depression manifested itself as merely the desire to sit and stare into space for hours on end. I never had negative thoughts about the baby or myself. However what if I hadn't sought help? Would it have gotten worse and worse? Who knows.

I do think that a lot of people knew she had problems. Although you can hide depression pretty well, it was obvious to most that she was not coping and they just let it continue. No one wanted to step up and say anything.

So I agree with the idea that while she was clearly suffering from
