Cancer? My father was recently (4 months ago) diagnosed with breast cancer and we talked to the kids lightly about what that meant. He had a major mastectomy and lymph node removal, and then he underwent hormone therapy for the last three months in an attempt to shrink the other masses in his body. He went back for his pet scan earlier this week and the masses have grown. Not good news. So, he starts chemo on Tuesday.....My question is this. How much do I say or not say. I have 3 children who are VERY close to their grandpa. our kids are 8 1/2, 10 1/2 and 12. Any advice??? L

First, let me say I am sorry about your dad. We have a similar thing here. My grandmother has breast cancer, an it progressed to her bones. My mil also was diagnosed at the end of last year with cervical cancer. I jsut lay things on the line. I talk with my kids about everything. We read teh newspaper's front page almost every morning. that opens a lot of discussions.
