How often does your kid have gym class?

I was just wondering about this? I wrote recently about my SD health. TY for all the replys. Last year my SD only had gym on friday and it was just a hour. When I went to school we had it everyday. They seem to have time for a 15 minute concession everyday where they can get pop and candy from the machines. When I went to school we didn't have pop or candy at the school, unless it was a special occation but not every day. I find this a very bad example. I think kids should have gym at least 3 days a week and no junk and pop at school. How often does your kids have gym? And do they have a concession where they can hit the junk food machines? I am just wondering have they cut gym down to 1 day a week everywhere?

Last year in 5th grade, my son & daughter (twins) had gym 3 days a week. This year in 6th grade they will have gym every other week. In the elementary school they didn't have junk food or soda. In the middle school they will have a soda machine (unless it has been removed since my last visit to the school).

My boys have pe everyday.
Since our school went to a balanced school day (3 periods of 100 minutes with significant snack breaks and recess between each) they have been able to have gym class everyday for at least 30 min. That is combined with the two 25 minute recess periods. I am pleased they now have it everyday. Before that it was 3X a week. This is still elementary school. Not sure how it works in our middle school.
We have no vending machines of any kind in our school. The only "junk" food they can get is pizza lunches on Friday's that parents have to sign them up for and there is no drink or candy provided. Simply a slice (or two) of pizza and the kids have to supply their own drinks, dessert, etc. There has been some push by our provincial government to remove vending machines from the schools as they don't provide a good source of energy. Teachers already complain about kids who come to school with a large soda and giant bag of chips for lunch (one came with a WHOLE chocolate cream pie) and don't have nutritious lunches. If we had vending machines I'm sure it would be even worst because then kids would simply bring money and drink soda, chips and chocolate for lunch.
My kids school runs on a 6 day schedule. In the lower school they have art & music one day and the next they have pe. So they'll have pe either 2 or 3 days a week.
In the middle school they have pe 5 out of 6 days. The other day is a study skills class.
They have vending machines, but there is no soda or candy in it. It's water and juices only. Our school doesn't have cafeteria food, but they do sell frozen lunches in the vending machine. I can't remember the foods in the vending machines but it wasn't a lot of junk.
