Hannah started the year off a little bumpy. At the beginning of the year she was making an F in Science. She doesn't care much for her science teacher. Anyway, she pulled it up to a C the first semester.
I just rec'd her progress report and she is making an A in Science. I'm very happy about that. She's making A's and B+'s in her classes. I don't know why the school system uses +'s and -'s but they do.
Hannah is in and out of the various groups. It's fine with me. She's been hanging around the same group of friends since 2nd grade. She did make friends with a Japanese girl in her class. Hannah likes anything that has to do with Japan. We've had the girl over for a play date and this weekend Hannah is going to her sleepover birthday party. :)
good - Hannah has a lot of church friends that are home schooled. Our local YMCA has a big homeschool network called the home zone. Do you guys have anything like that in TX? The kids say it's a blast to go.
The 5th grade has been the toughest year for my daughter. Her worst subject is math, she is being tutored and it has helped. I see the improvement but with all the homework, projects, test and ADD mixed in it's been tough. She will have to do summer school for the math. But I would rather she do summer school instead of having to repeat the year. All I can say is if the 5th grade has this much work, I will be having a nervous breakdown for middle school LOL!
This is Connor's last year in Middle school. He's doing awesome. He's an honor student and very involved in school. He is in the choir, select choir, and made both all city and all state choirs as well. He writes for the school newspaper, had a major part in the school production of Bye Bye Birdie and is webmaster for the Student Historic Preservation Team.
He auditioned for, and got into, the High School select Choir for next year.
Connor just returned from a Spanish trip to New York City. He was one of 50 8th grade students chosen to go on the trip.
He's made a lot of friends this year as well.
All in all it's been a great year so far. Two more months to go.
