My daughter was in fourth grade this year. She did fine, but not great. I have a day care in my home and I have three other kids in the same grade. My daughter brought home twice as much homework...many tears, and many more frustrations than the other kids. I have spoken to other parents in the class, and they had similer problems. One boy had to drop out of boy scouts because of the homework. She made the whole class stand up WHENEVER an adult entered the room and say "Good morning/afternoon MRS Harris" even if they were taking a test. (I thought that ws weird)
On the other hand, she learned a lot more than the other kids too. This teacher made the kids give oral reports every month. So, my daughter is very good at speaking in a group. The teacher would not accept questions such as: "Can I?" they had to rephrase it "May I?" There were many positives.
The problem::::: This teacher is looping. That means she is going to teach fifth grade and wants her whole class back. I am torn....Do I want the tears and frustrations? This teacher already knows my daughter, and knows what she can do. I like the extra curriculum, but does she need it?
I know this is not much information...but in the same situation, would you give your O.K to let her loop with this teacher? Or would you take a chance on another teacher?

Good luck!!
