I have an 11 year old daughter that keeps bugging and bugging me about shaving her legs. I really dont quite remember at what age I had started to do this. Is 11 an appropriate age to show her the greatness of shaving? (by the way that was sacastic...lol)

My daughter is 10 and just started shaving a few weeks ago. She continued to ask and explained that, because she was a dancer and often wore shorts, she was uncomfortable because he legs had a lot of hair on them. She also had told me about a few of her friends who had mothers who wouldn't help them, so they went ahead and started shaving on their own and managed to cut themselves up pretty good. I thought it was good that she was asking me about it instead of going ahead to do it on her own, plus I couldn't think of a good reason for her not to.

I also went with shave gel and a good hand-held razor (with the aloe strips) and one day we went in the bathroom and I showed her what to do. Now, she does it herself, but only when she's with me - at the beginning of our week and the end - and hasn't even mentioned it to her dad (split custody).

I haven't read the other posts yet but I let my 10yo dd start shaving this summer. I did it because she has such thick, dark hair and because most of the girls around here have already started which made her thick, dark hair stand out all the more. Amazingly, her hair has come back in lighter and thinner with each shave - so she's only shaved a couple of times this summer.

I don't have a daughter but I had dark hairly legs at that age. I remember my parents not wanting me to shave yet, but they let me use NAIR.

It worked great, the hair was gone for alot longer. I think I started shaving at around 13. You might want to try that route first.
