and I just got back from one 7/9. Can I whine for a minute? If it gets to be too much, send me a no whining sign! LOL. In the past 14 days I've taken my son to a swim meet, painted his room, mucked out his room (okay he did 70% of this), mucked out my bedroom (can you tell dh is out of town?), mucked out Megan's bedroom (she's helping as much as a 7 yo can), taken dh's car in for body work, driven Evan 2 hours to camp, taken 2 loads of "stuff" to the Salvation Army, been to the movies 3 times, bought new pillows and a comforter for dh and I, said good-bye to some friends who moved from IL to NY, took one last trip into Chicago with them, registered the kids for almost all their fall extra curriculars, and all as a single parent (I have great respect for single parents). Between now and when dh gets back I'm having his car detailed, taking the dog to the groomers, and getting our carpets cleaned (except the family room - just can't get the room decluttered by Friday). I'm doing all this stuff while trying to keep up with the house and do some special things with Megan while the two of us are home together. So far we've been through her room, been to the pool several times, done some "girl stuff", and we're planning on seeing Hairspray Friday after the carpets are cleaned so we're out of the house while everything dries.
What happened to relaxing, easy going summers? Calgon, take me away!

It feels good to do all those things, once they are done. Hang in there.
I'm afraid that as an adult, summers are not as carefree as we remember them from childhood!

Wow, I can totally relate! I'm alway ready for summer vacation because I always have it in my mind that it will be so much more relaxed and easier..but it's always crazy like that!
When I say I'm ready for school to be back in, it's not about getting rid of the kids so much as it's hoping I less stuff I have to do!
