I'm at an Easter loss!

As I was growing up, my mother never 'did' the Easter bunny thing. She wanted us to know the true meaning of Easter and that it wasn't a holiday that revolved around a bunny KWIM? Now that I'm grown and have kids, now she has started believing in the Easter Bunny!!! Now what??!!?? I have been at a loss as to what to do for years now. I let her indulge in the EB thing, but now, we are on our own this Easter and may not have the funds for EB.....which isn't fair to the kids....any advise will be highly appreciated!!!

I say make a run to the dollar store---you can get some great candy and little items to fill a basket and don't have to spend more than, say, $10 on each kid.

Can you do homemade goodies? Dye eggs & make easter themed sugar cookies, would that be a good compromise? Or as Laura said run to the dollar store or Target for cute reasonably priced trinkets?

My mom use to just hide the plastic eggs around and throw a book into a basket ... She would keep the plastic eggs in a box in storage and use them again and again. But for the true meaning of easter........ then a lesson should be taught. Good Luck.

I could go to the dollar store, they always have neat stuff. Luckily, the older kids won't need a basket for hunting eggs! I have to get out today anyway to buy eggs! Thanks for the advice!

As for the little ones stuff from the doller store always works.

Chiming in late here....one cheap idea I'm doing this year is to give each child a packet of sunflower seeds (the type you plant, not the type you eat!), then sometime during Easter we are going to plant and begin a sunflower house.
