Inexpensive elem. school grad gift? (m)

Gee, these short titles sure limit you! Anyway, I just wanted to stop by here and ask you ladies a question. I'm 21, and my "baby" brother, who will be 11 soon, will be graduating from elementary school (Grade 5) in June. It's SO hard to beleive- it seems that it wasn't so long ago that I was in Grade 5 and he was born! It will be the first time in 15 years that a child form my family hasn't gone to that school (I have another brother who is 18 1/2)!
My question is: I want to get him a gift for his "graduation". It isn't really made that big of a deal here: just a short ceremony at a school assembly. I still wanted to get him something- not too big or inexpensive, just something that says "My little brother is going to MIDDLE school"! I was thinking of getting him an English "football" shirt when I go overseas next month (he LOVES Manchester United!). Is that too impersonal? Anyway, I would love to hear suggestions about what you have gotten your children, or what the child's siblings have gotten them.
Thanks,
Cathy

I think a team shirt like you mentioned is a good idea. It is personal, because you said it's a team he likes! I don't remember what was listed in the thread, but a music CD, books, or anything you know he'd like would be very thoughtful.

Gee, I'm reacting like this NOW...I can't bear to think what it's going to be like when he graduates from high school! Of course, I'll be nearly 30 then and will likely have kids of my own to gush over! (;)
