Insomia (ugh!)

I've been awake since around 2:30am. My son woke me up because he was hurting & itching. Bless his heart! He hurt his butt at the skateboard park on Tuesday night going down the half pipe. And as if that isn't enough, he has his 1st ever case of poison oak. I was hoping that he was going to be like me & not get it. We have a thicket of woods behind our house. There is poison oak in it. The neighborhood kids (7 or 8 of them on Wed. played) all get together & play 'hide & go seek' just about every afternoon & some nights (our front porch is the safe base). He has been cutting through the poison oak all summer. I guess he was bound to get it.
So, I gave him an Advil & put some Cala Gel on the poison oak. I sat on the edge of his bed for a little bit & scratched his back lightly until he fell asleep. I hope he sleeps better tonight because tomorrow is the 1st day of school. (Go figure why they are starting on a Friday!)
After all that, I got awake & cannot go back to sleep. I have this problem every once in awhile (stress & worry) & was given a Rx for Ambien CR. I took my last pill one night last week. I called in the refill a couple of days ago & forgot to go pick it up.
So...I'm doing some laundry & just got finished unloading the dishwasher. It's probably not a good idea to do housework because it wakes me up even more. But I can't stand to not do anything if I have the chance. While waiting for the clothes to dry, I decided to play around on the computer. Before I came here, I visited the Crate & Barrel outlet page. They've added some new stuff. I just placed an order with them a few days ago, so I resisted ordering anything.
I tried drinking a glass of wine & watching the goverment channel (CSpan), but the show where authors are talking about books is on. Most people would be bored by it, but I love to watch it. (Weird, huh?) Maybe I'll go watch the Golf channel. As long as there isn't a tournament on, it should bore me.
What do you do when you have insomia? Or do you ever get it?

Oh hun I feel so sorry for you! I'm a wierd sleeper! I can fall asleep in less than 60 seconds, but if I get woken up for anything, I'm up the rest of the night! I have a bladder of steel because even if I go to the restroom...I'm up. I'll usually lay in bed about an hour hoping to fall back asleep (I'm slowly getting better at this) but I get bored and get up. Computer time, reading, or most fun is getting out the playstation! I keep it turned down and enjoy those easy and silly games the kids have outgrown! I NEVER play it otherwise but it seems to help the night pass quicker...I'm a dork! HAHA!!! I hope you get some rest today!

I picked up my Ambien today. I'm going to take one around 10pm.
You know, I once read that people who fall asleep real quick are often sleep deprived, but I can't remember how they concluded that. Maybe because it means that they are exhausted. Do you ever get into the really deep REM sleep?
As far as the video games go, I play a couple of the games with my son. The Tony Hawk Underground & NBA basketball. He says I 'suck' at the basketball. (Gee what a nice thing to say about his mom.) But still asks me to play with him so he can make fun of the way I gasp, stick my tongue out, move the controller from side to side (like that's going to make my man move faster) & sometimes run in place. I lose all control of myself when I play the video games with him.
I use to like to play the Mario Bros games with him & other adventure type games. I wish he would get something like that for us to play during the winter or on rainy days.

I know so many people that take that Ambien. What are the side affects?

i take ambien and the main side effect i guess is that it can be habit forming

shes on the CR which is the one i want to be on but cant since its not free or nor does the military clinic have it here

this is the regular Ambien:

  • allergic reaction including difficulty breathing
  • hallucinations
  • abnormal behavior
  • severe confusion

Other less serious side effects include headache, nausea, depression, muscle pain, vivid dreams, temporary amnesia, and others.

ive never had any of these side effects though and ive been on it for about 5 mos now, but i think here soon our military clinic is "supposed" to get it..if not then they are going to let me go to walmart and use their pharmacy and pay only 9 bucks since its non-generic

this is the Ambien CR one:

Be sure you’re able to devote 7 to 8 hours to sleep before being active again.

It can be habit forming, but I only take it maybe once a week. A bottle of 15 (all my insurance will pay for) will last me 3 months or more. It will make me sleep, but not leave me groggy like the OTC stuff. An adult does of Sominex is 2 pills. I only take 1, but will still be groggy in the morning. The Ambien CR seems to make you sleep, then leaves your system.
