I was on the apple website looking at the refurbished ipods.

My question is:

I think the new ones have more bells and whistles and they might have made some changes to the battery system. Basically once the battery dies in an ipod its toast and you throw it out. I know in Canada there is one company in all of Canada who can change the batteries and many times the shell is broken doing it. Apple created them to be disposable. Hence we have MP3 players that use one AAA. They work, they are cheaper and while they aren't as "cool" they do the job. LOL Call me cheap and out of style.

They do change "bells and whistles", battery construction, etc. from generation to generation and they also change style - size, edges, etc. I got a 2nd generation nano for Xmas and found that the cases made for the first generation nano don't fit the 2nd generation style. If you get a refurbished model, be extra careful when buying accessories. I'm sure they work very well and are probably just as good as an out of the box model but I have no experience with them.

Good luck.
