What are your plans for the 4th of July? What's everyone up to this long weekend? We're going to be staying home and hosting a small bbq and fireworks show (after Scott goes to bed - he doesn't like the loud noises) on the 4th. After that, we're just going to be enjoying the time off work.

Tonight, we go with ds's friend's family to dinner and a local town's fireworks (St. Louis has a smallish city, surrounded by many small towns/municipalities that have their own celebrations, which avoids having to go to the mobscene downtown!). Tomorrow, back to that town for parade. Then to dh's baby sister's (she's 31; he's 45) to celebrate the 4th as well as the youngest cousin's 2nd birthday (her little guy). Saturday ds10 goes on a scout 5 mile hike (I'm hoping to get out of it! It's brutally hot here), and Sunday we MIGHT be going sailing with some friends of mine (hoping!). Monday, back to work to collapse!

I've had weekends like that, where I go to work on Monday to get some rest ;-)!! Sounds like a fun, but full, weekend. Enjoy it!! I'll keep my fingers crossed that the weather is nice (as in not too hot) for you all.

Thanks - it's almost always hot and sticky here on the 4th; tomorrow they're saying 95 with a heat index of 104. Ugh. I think I'll stay in and watch from a window all the kids on the Slip'n'Slides at my SIL's!

Am I safe in assuming that your SIL has air conditioning? If so, you wouldn't be able to pry me out of the house with anything less than a construction crane at those temperatures. I don't do heat well, it's just not a pretty sight.

Practically everyone in St. Louis has a/c, thank goodness! Yes, I'll be inside in the nice, cool a/c, probably popping in and out to be sure the kids (ages 12-2) don't get overheated.

Sue, whose ds10 was born in early August after a long, hot summer!

An August baby, you poor thing!! Thank goodness Scott was a January baby, I probably would've hurt someone if I had to tolerate a hot summer while in my 3rd trimester LOL.

I'm hoping for a quiet weekend, after 2 very busy weekends in a row - one with houseguests, and one away. We haven't decided yet on our plans for the 4th. We'll either go to the Phillies game, which Rachel will like and Sam will not... or we'll stay home and dh will take Sam to the local fireworks show. Rachel doesn't like fireworks, and they're not my favorite thing either. We're both sensitive to the loud noise. Since it's going to be very hot and humid here tomorrow, I'm not sure we'll brave the Phillies game. I'll let you know!

I've already bought some bbq things. My dh is itching to invite someone over last minute. We'll see!
