Lurker: Xmas Ideas Needed

Hello,

I lurk often, but rarely post. I keep coming and looking for the Christmas ideas thread, but I haven't seen one as of yet.

I'm a single mom of three: 2 girls that are 11.5 and 9 and a little boy who's 1.5. I'm having a hard time figuring out what to get my girls this year. The 'tween' years are so difficult...lol. My girls are polar opposites too, and they share a room so that doesn't help.

My oldest is not really a girly girl but she's starting to get there a bit more lately, I guess. Right now she's obsessed with Hollywood and movie stars. So I'm trying to think of something Hollywood related to get her, but I'm drawing a blank. Anyone have any ideas??

My 9 yo is much more girly girl so I have a few more ideas for her...she'll be happy with jewellry, clothes etc. whereas my oldest wouldn't be so much.

Just curious as to what other moms of girls are getting their daughters for Christmas this year, and again, any Hollywood/movie star ideas would be greatly appreciated, as well.

It does seem to be getting harder as she gets older. Kristen is 12 and not super girly but likes nice things. This year she is getting a pogo stick (she's wanted one for years), a special kind of chair, kind of a circle, can't think what's its called, some books and movies and tickets to see Mamma Mia. She'll get a few other little things, a pair of pjs, some funky socks, little things.

Maybe you could buy them some things for their room. Like a funky lamp, pillows for their beds, a mobile to hang from the ceiling. As for Hollywood, you could get a subscription to a magazine. My DD had a subscription to J-14 and according to her it was the best one out there. There is also Bop and a few others but J-14 seemed to have the best mix. Its a tween/teen magazine so only good stuff, everything very positive about the young celebs. Kristen seems to have passed that stage a bit now.

Hope this helps. It is hard. I considered getting a Wii but she didn't sound too interested when I casually asked if anyone had one. I got the screwed up nose and "Zack is getting one for Christmas" kind of said with distaste so thought I'm not going to spend $270 on something that is not really popular with her.

I have two daughters. The older one will be 14 at the end of the month and the younger one will be 12 in February. We got the older one a digital camera to go with the scrapbooking stuff we got her last year. Last year both girls got duvets and duvet covers. Both last year and this year we got them tickets to live theater. Last year we went to see Phantom of the Opera. This year we are going to see Rent in March ( we already bought the tickets) and then for ODD's birthday we are going to see "We will rock you."

Both girls have large cork boards in their rooms so they can hang up things they like or that are important to them. ODD has a few small movie posters, ticket stubs, ribbons she has one etc. YDD has a few pieces of her favourite art work, ticket stubs, pictures of her friends etc. What about a magazine subscription? YDD loves to make her own jewellry, she likes to get watercolours, canvases really anything to do with art.

I hope this helps!
