The messy bedrooms!

Do you just ignore your kids' bedrooms if they're messy, or do you feel compelled to clean them up when they're at school? Or do you constantly tell your kids to pick up their stuff?

Sometimes I do all of the above. Lately, I have been trying to ignore the mess, but I can't figure out why everything ends up on the floor! AAH!

We've talked about this recently, I think...not sure.

Just curious how you handle it if your kids are messy...I guess to a degree it's normal?

of course its normal.... I am going to get some eye shockers but here it goes...
I do not make Jackie clean up her room. She does not have "normal room"
Jackie has a bed that she sleep in but she is not one to make it up. Her toys are more all over the living room and I do make her clean her messes up. But as for clean your room.. that is not done in my house. She does help me clean. And I have cleaned her loft up but it not something that she cleans by herself.

I guess if you make it a constant thing and in force some consequences for not doing it then the room would be cleaned up. My mom told us kids that our rooms have to be cleaned on Saturday or no one could do anything until its done.

It really depends. To be honest her room is not that bad most of the time. She does seem to be trained to put most of her clothes in the laundry basket and she doesn't spend that much time in her room so it doesn't get that messy. If it gets to a critical point we do one of two things a) I clean it with her and that's when we do a purge of toys, books, etc. or b) I just do it when she's not there.

A couple of weeks ago we go new beds and I moved her old one out and had to vacuum and move some stuff around so I just cleaned it all up. That might mean just gathering up papers and putting them in the nightstand and sticking books randomly on the shelf, but a basic clean. At some point we will go through everything again (usually once a year) and we see what would be good for charity.

It used to be when I couldn't get to the bed without killing myself stepping on some Barbie stuff it got done. Now all the Barbie and pony stuff is in the basement and I never go down there. LOL But when the day comes I just scoop it all up in baskets. She'll be furious that I wrecked her system but too bad. But that's only if we are having company or my parents are coming or something. Thankfully not often.

Hannah keeps her room pretty clean. I don't really have to bug her about it. It's mostly just clothes on the floor. I never help her clean--sometimes I will vacuum for her.

Nathan's room is kind of a mess. I don't understand it because we will clean it together and it looks nice. He rarely plays in his room (we have a bonus room above the garage he spends most of his indoor time in). Somehow his room always gets messy! I don't bug him about it because I don't see it much! (our bedroom is on the main floor, his is upstairs)

I can't seem to allow a room to get too messy as it drives me nuts!
