Megan swam in our regional age group meet this weekend (short course) and it appears she has two AAA times. Are those good for the Zone meet in August? Also, athlete check in, team practice, and team picture are Thursday. Does the athlete have to be in attendance for these to swim in the meet? Megan is signed up for another riding camp Monday through Friday and we'll definitely pull her out of camp Friday morning if she qualifies for a Friday event (camp is about an hour away) at state this weekend. If she has to be there Thursday and Friday, we might have to pull her from camp all together. The two events she qualified for (assuming her SCY times from this weekend are good) are Saturday and Sunday. I'm trying to figure out how all of this will work...

It is prelim/finals but she's in the 2nd heat of 6 so we're out of here by 10:30 or 11 to go back home to normal life. We sooooo lucked out. State meet is 45 minutes from home!!!

The time at the pool can be exhausting and you are right 1:05 for 2-8 hours of sitting is exactly what this sport is about.

Teagen gets nervous when they make the championship game. She's a goalie and has only made consolation games and this year they made both Championship games in their May tournaments...you would have thought it was the Olympics by the way she was acting!!! LOL.

KUP on how it goes. Is it prelims/finals format? They cut out that format this year, fus us, as it was going to be too long to get through prelims with all who qualify!

Yup 50 back today. Problem with qualifying in all distances of the same stroke is they're all on different days. She only qualified in backstroke and is on a relay so we're here for an average of 1:05 for each of three days.... But that's what happens in this sport... It is a nervous sport though like you said, I guess they all are. In team sports you don't always know how long your season is either depending on tournament qualification as season end.

Kenzie is 14 and I totally get the trying to go for LC times vs having SC times plus keeping things low key...Kenzie is entered with SC times and the hope is to get the LC times, but I'm not holding out for it. This is such a nervous sport, well they all are, but Kenzie seems to chew off her nails a lot more than her sister does!

Yes we will be at the RecPlex and have two reservations for hotels. La Quinta in Kenosha and Fairfield in Racine. We are taking a teammate of Kenzie's and so we have one room at LaQ and two rooms at Fairfield. I've heard and wasn't too impressed with the city of Racine, so I'm trying to get a 2nd room in Kenosha....cross our fingers something opens up. Although that will mean someone didn't make the cut and I hate thinking I'm waiting for someone else to not make it, ugh.

Good Luck today!!! Is it the 50 back today?

Thanks for the info! I'm actually sitting in the stands at state right now watching morning warm-ups. I talked to her coach the other day and he said her SC times would qualify her for Zones but he wanted to wait to see how she did at state to enter her in case she made the LC cuts which would get her a better seeding. Personally, I don't care about seedings, I would rather not leave it undone but she'll be there either way. :smileyhappy: She hasn't really looked at Speedos or other similar meets yet. I'm purposely trying to keep things super low key. The more we talk about things, the more nervous she gets. She's really just had state and LC Zones in her sights. We didn't even know she made the SC cuts until I looked them up at home on a whim. I emailed the camp to ask about leaving early or leaving and coming back and they were thrilled that Megan might be leaving erly for such a great reason. No problem there. :smileyhappy: Is Kenzie still 14? Where are her Zones? If she's at the RecPlex in Pleasant Prairie, let me know. That's where we'll be. We've been there several times and I'd be happy to answer questions you might have about the facility and surrounding area. There's a decent outlet mall about 5 minutes away. Good luck to Kenzie!!

It depends on how your LSC (Illinois right) sets up check-in! If our swimmer/daughter wants to be considered for a relay, then she needs to be at check-in at 3:00 on Thursday! That is our LSC's rule though. Otherwise, I think you should be fine. Does your LSC provide a Zones Head Coach or manager for the team? That is who I would ask! We have a coach for each age group and gender so 13-14 girls have their own coach, which happens to be the Head Coach of the Zones team. That is so exciting for Megan!!! Woohoo! Kenzie had the 50 & 100 free at 12 and got them only by relays!!! 13-14 she made them by individual and achieved the backstrokes over the winter, we shall see what State brings! So here on out you should be seeing Zones times!!! Has she started looking at other meets like Speedo's? Kenzie started noticing those meets just before she turned 13, so I'm just curious as she sounds like she's into goal setting as well! Good Luck!
