Wow, what a day. Work was crazy, then DD came into the office and announced that she was not on the honor roll because she got an incomplete in health. she followed that up by telling me that DS did not make the honor roll either. since I was at the receptionist desk I was able to get on the computer and check their grades immediately. (heavy sigh). both kids have been told, no honor roll, no sports, no driving. Honestly, did they think we were kidding?? I really don't think expecting them to make the B honor roll is unreasonable. Then I had Homework club until 5 with a surly DS in attendance. Immediately after that, DS had his Personal Management Merit badge class and Boy Scouts right after that. I helped one of the boys assemble some paperwork he needed to move up in rank, and sat in on his board of review. DS also had his board of review. I had to check some merit badge stuff for him, and it looks like he will finally be moving up in rank. which was a nice bit of good news. Because the rest of the evening was downhill from there. DD went up to her room in a huff when we told her that she would NOT be cheering at the game tomorrow night, and DS has been trying to negotiate a deal with us so that he can continue to play basketball while pulling his grades up. In fact, after calling DH and attempting to plead his case, twice, he is now sending DH an e mail explaining why he should be allowed to play. I am 99.9 percent sure that will not sway DH, but at least DS is not on my back anymore. Parenting would be so much easier if kids would just listen and follow directions!

You got that right! If they would just do what we ask/advise them to do life would be so much more enjoyable for everyone!

Tonight I told Megan she needed to charge all electronics in the living room instead of her room overnight (maybe because I caught her messing around with her iPod at 11:00 one night) and after throwing a small fit, she walked upstairs with them in her hand and placed them on her bed. Then she was surprised when dh took them away for 24 hours. Really? Didn't I just tell you you had to leave them downstairs? You didn't expect there to be consequences for willful disobedience?

At least Evan was reasonable tonight...

Sorry, it sounds like a rough day there. Hopefully the kids will take this as a learning experience and acknowledge their own responsibility in the situation..

I remember a couple of years back when we made Kayleigh turn in her phone and netbook before bed because it seemed like she was using them after curfew.

Hugs Wendy, that's a tough situation, but you did the right thing enforcing the rules. I hope they do get the big picture of things.

DD needs a certain average to be eligible for the dual enrollment program next year and at this rate she is not going to make it.
