It is not unheard of to get snow or even a blizzard in April. It was just kind of a shock to get a big snowfall now, after such a mild winter. Everyone was unprepared.
Checking in on Tuesday morning. I awoke at 1:00 Monday morning to a screaming wind and blinding snow. We lost power shortly after and it was not restored u til early yesterday afternoon. We are lucky, though. Lots of people in our area are still without electricity this morning. School was cancelled, so after tryi g unsuccessfully to nap, I got up and made 30 "people" for DD's Malaria Sunday presentation. I also shoveled a path through the very wet, heavy snow so the dogs could get out of the house without having to wade through the snow. DH put the Mini in the ditch and we ended up having to call a tow truck. Once we had power restored at the house, I vacuumed, washed floors, scrubbed rugs, had DS help me move furniture, and made a pan of bars for a funeral luncheon. It was a productive day: )
For a laid back day I think things have gotten done. I did 3 loads of laundry. My dad helped me clean out the garage and then he made 8 boxes for Jordyn's photography project. While he was working on the boxes mom and I took the girls to the chiropractor, then the grocery store, then to the Disney store to let Emma pick out a birthday gift with the money my brother sent down. Now we are home and I am going to start dinner shortly, we are having gumbo, rice and a fresh loaf of French bread. Tonight a bit more laundry and relaxing with my parents.
Today is the post office, out to lunch, the dentist, out for ice cream afterwards, and the library. He'll do math and literature work there and then he have 30 books to find for upcoming supplemental school readings.
Morning all! Tracy, hope your visit with your parents is going well and everyone is having fun.
Today got off to a rocky start. Dh is way stressed (work, money, black belt test this coming weekend, surly kids) and Evan got under is skin. Dh did not react well and left in a huff leaving a string of 4 letter words in his wake. He did text me later to apologize though.
This afternoon I'm making a trip to the Salvation Army and doing the taxes on my trust fund. It didn't make enough to pay out and it usually takes me a total of 20 minutes to do the return. Paperwork is already collected. Just need to plug and chug the numbers. I'm hoping to get to the dining room too. That might be a little ambitious but it would be great. We got all the donations out and Evan's third quarter grades landed him a week or two of supervised homework at the table so I need to get it cleared and cleaned (needs it anyway). I've got th house to myself until 5 tonight. Hooray. If I'm really ambitious, I'll head over to the health club. It's supposed to storm so I may just have to rely on the Wii...
This evening, Megan has swim practice and Evan has water polo and that's about it other than the usual piano and homework.
I remember centuries ago
We occasionally get an April snowstorm here too but we haven't in recent years.

Wow, crazy weather. Is that typical for your area in mid April? So glad you got your power back and were able to salvage the day!
