Nik's class this morning the director came to me & said the teacher would rather Nik went to ballet 1 instead of ballet 2. Reason was she said Nik had a hard time focusing. Nik has never had a hard time focusing, I've never gotten a complaint once at school or anywhere else. Nik told me that she did have a hard time today staying in a postition w/her arms outstrectched like she was hugging a tree, for about 10 min. I would have a hard time holding my arms in that postion for that long the 1st 10-15 times till my arms got used to it.
So she will go to ballet on Tuesday & not math club, but once I got home I realized that in January their are try outs for the spring musical at school & Nik loved being in it last yr. & rehearsals are everyday after school. Plus if kids miss rehearsals consistantly they get kicked out. So missing every Tuesday would get Nik kicked out & she is looking forward to being in the musical.
Ballet changing means the Tap will change yet again, this is the 3rd. or 4th change this yr. She'll be trying a teen adult class on wednsesday nights which she isn't to thrilled about.
Her dance instructor this yr. is fairly new, has danced in NY w/all the biggest names & at the White House. I think she's forgetting these are kids. We've been told if the kids get caught talking they have to do crunches as punishment, I don't know how many. This is suppose to be fun!
Dh wants me to take her out completely in December or right now.

((((HUGS)))) I've been there.
Unless her life plans are to be a ballet star, I would be tempted to say forget ballet for now. Maybe in the spring it will fit better in your schedule but I think being in the school musical would be more fun and she'll be bonding with other kids at her school who she maybe doesn't have classes with. It just sounds too disorganized and hap hazard and as you said, its for fun, its not training for the NYC ballet company.
But talk to Nik. If she could only choose one what would she choose, then go with it. Its tough when everything overlaps. We ran into that problem this year. Curling, volleyball and archery were all on Sunday. DD decided to do none and just have Sundays to do what she wanted and I'm rather enjoying it. We can plan family events, rather than always being on the run. Good luck deciding.
This is Nik's last yr. to be in the school musical & its a big deal for the 5th graders. next yr. she goes to middle school & everything changes. I don't like this teachers attitude & nik will have her on Tuesdays also. I have never met her she never comes down w/the kids & I think she should have come down & spoke w/me herself. There was never a problem w/anything last yr. & the director/owner taught then. I'm paid up till december cause they do it by semesters & I may let her go till then & then just not go back or if I do something before then I may change her to youth musical & drop the ballet altogether.
I'll be speaking w/the director on tuesday. I'm sick of hearing we're penciling Nik in to try this time, etc. I got a look at the class roster today & they only had about 5 kids in the class they want to change Nik to. I think they're trying to fill classes & since I don't work I'm an easy target.

I just spoke w/one of the other moms & she was horrified this was done to my dd. She told me her dd keeps telling her that this teacher is really mean & also her dd complains after class about hurting alot & being tired. These kids never did this last yr.
Also my dd really loved ballet until this happened on Saturday & I don't think anything should have been said in front of my dd. I've never seen this dance teacher she never comes downstairs & I don't think any of the moms have ever spoken to her. She's new there this yr. & stays on the 4th floor between classes. All the other instructors come downstairs in case a mom has a question & just to mingle & then go up w/their next class. This woman has a very impressive bio, she was a solo performer on the stage of NYC by the age of 16 & danced w/alot of big ballet names I recognized but can't pronounce or spell. I think she looks at every child like they are going to be just like she was.
In the meantime my dd cried tonight & can't understand why she has to change & she will still have the same teacher. Dd getting that upset over it doesn't

Gabby also goes to an unoranized dance school.Although she does get excellent instruction. However, sice it is really small it takes forever to get Gabby's yearly schedule in order. The owner is still talking about changes and it is almost Nov.As it is we are ther 5 hours during the week.Hower, the latest she is there is 7pm,which is plenty late enough for us.Now the teacher is talking about combining 2 classes and having them ther until 9pm.That is way to late for Gabrielle. She needs down time before she goes to sleep and dancing until 9 will just stress her. Then add homework or test to that, she'll be a basket case. However, some of the other girls in the class just want to keep one class too. Then again,Gabby is the youngest one in the class by 2 years,so we will see.
