Naughty litterbug bus driver!

Yesterday, Quinn was about 10 or 15 minutes late getting home from school. As soon as he came in the door, he started telling that they were coming down the road, towards our house. (We live right on a very busy country road) The bus driver threw something out the window just as a sheriffs deputy car was going by. The deputy turned around & pulled the bus over. He came onto the bus & asked the bus driver "Did you throw something out the window?" Quinn said that before she could answer, all the kids on the bus yelled "Yes. She did!" (Yikes!) She had to radio in & get the school to send out a substitute driver. (They were only a couple of miles or so from the school) The policeman let her stay on the bus until the sub got there. Quinn said that there were kids on the bus saying stuff like "Ohhh! You're in trouble!" (Quinn claims that he didn't say anything, but I know that mischievous mouth of his couldn't stay shut!) Then she went to the police car where he proceeded to write her a ticket.
My mother wondered why she had to get a sub. Why she just didn't get him to write her a ticket & then finish out the route. I think it was because she cannot leave the kids on the bus without her & perhaps she was just so embarassed. It doesn't pay to litter!!!

What a good reminder for the kids not to litter either. I bet none of them is going to forget that for a long time, especially the driver.

I've told Quinn to keep his mouth shut to her about it because she is the type of driver that would have him suspended from the bus.

I asked Quinn if anyone picked on the bus driver today. He said he didn't hear anyone say anything to her. He said that usually when the kids get on the bus in the morning, she usually looks at them as they come onto the bus. This morning she was looking straight ahead. I guess she was trying to avoid eye contact. He said that when he got onto the bus this afternoon, he said "hello" to her & she gave him the 'stink-eye'. I was worried that Quinn wasn't going to keep his big mouth shut & was going to possibly get in trouble. Perhaps his judgement is a little better than I thought. Thank goodness for the 'stink-eye'! Sort of tells someone to back off before they can start something up.
