My ex is going on being 4 months behind in child support. The child support agency bills him...they advised me to go ahead and file "contempt of court" papers against him. Has anyone here ever done that to an ex? My DH thinks I should get an attorney, but I've already filled out the papers and I'm ready to turn them in today. I am tired of the ex thinking he's above the law and I want to get this taken care of before he's even further behind!!
The papers were pretty easy to fill out, I also attached my court order for the support and the evidence from child support that he's behind.
I hate going to court, but all the child support place can do is try to suspend his driver's license. They can't find out where he works right now because he doesn't use his Soc. secuirty # at his jobs, which are "under the table" I think.
what would you do?

I'd file it!
does he have visitation?
April
I have never had to do contempt proceedings myself luckily.
Thanks for the support.
FILE IT!
My BF has issues with her ex not paying and she always files it--she will often call him to warn him first--and most times that makes him pay---but if he doesn't then she doesn't hesitate to file them!

Its not going to hurt to file those papers...... i hope your state is quicker than Tx to get something done.
No.
They typically will call and threaten him that he must make (attempts) to pay by a certain date---and as long as he makes an attempt nothing happens.
