Hi! My name is Kim. I have 3 children. My oldest, Jacob will be 10 in Dec. I usually post on the 8 and 9 year old board, but this board seems more appropropriate at this point. I also have a 3 year old ds and a 21 month old dd. Jacob walks around saying that he is a "tween". It is hilarious!! HE is also very tall for his age and he looks older than he is, although he still acts like a typical 9.5 year old. Everyone is tellng me that he is the "heartthrob" of the school this year. YIKES!!! I don't know if I'm ready for it. Thank goodnesss that he is still pretty oblivious to that kind of stuff, but any experiences that any of you have had with this would be appriciated. It's good to be here!!

Welcome, Kim! Thanks for the wonderful introduction. I am co-cl here. My children, Sam and Rachel, are 11yo boy/girl twins in the 6th grade this year. I'm looking forward to getting to know you better, and hope to see you often.

Hi Kim and welcome to the board.

I'm so with you. My son is nearly 11 though; that's the only major difference I can discern based on your description. My son has always seemed to have girls grinning at him, he's been very oblivious - until this year (oh my, I'm definitely NOT ready for this). He's tall (nearly 63 inches now and weighs in at over 100 pounds) and is often mistaken for being much older than he actually is. Oh and by the way, he has a 32 month old brother - no sister though. Sean started telling me that he was a half-teenager when he was about 7-8, he's never used the tween label yet.

As for dealing with the heartthrob stuff, since Sean became aware of it and is somewhat enjoying the attention, we've started talking the responsibilities of relationships. Nothing too deep, just extra emphasis on treating people nice and being careful of other people's feelings.

Glad you popped over here. I look forward to "seeing" more of you.

Best Always,

Sherrie
