myself...I think I am in need of some serious help with my daughter!! I have 4 kids ages 5, 8, 10 and 11--all girls except for the 10 yr old. My 11 yr old has been driving us crazy for some time now and she is just getting worse!! She constantly rolls her eyes at anything we say, stomps her feet when she doesnt get her way and is just generally miserable to be around. I know it is all part of the age and hormones but I am fed up!! She has started to keep a journal and I know it is bad but I do read it and all she says is how much she hates me, her brother and her youngest sister. She also goes on and on about being in 'love' with a boy at school who does not like her. I guess that is enough of an introduction--dont want to dump it all here at once!! I am looking forward to reading other posts and seeing how others are dealing with this age!!

Hello Tricia and welcome to the board. My name is Caroline. I'm the other cl here. I hope you stick around. These ladies are full of wonderful wisdom. :)

(((Big Hugs))) what you posted sounds typical tween behavior to me. I liked what Laura said, "0 Tolerance" That is half the battle.

Hi -- I'm new here too but can sympathize with you completely with the 11-year old attitude.

Hi and welcome. I agree with the others, don't tolerate it! I have a dd who is 12 and ds who is 8. I am big on making my kids write essays for rude behavior, they hate it sooo much, so it must be good, lol! As for reading her diary, I used to write horrid things in mine at that age because I knew my mom read it, it was for shock value. It also is a safe place to vent, don't take it too seriously!

Oooh--I'll have to remember that for my DS--he HATES writing so that would be a true punishment for him!

Not only does it work as a punishment, but it helps them verbalize the whole problem.
