I know not everyone does resolutions for the new year, or you do and they don't last long.

Fantastic goal! Does your DD do any sports, or can you two do something together? ODD and I used to play tennis together, but now, even though we've slacked quite a bit this last month, DH and I started walking together on the weekends. It has been great both for our fitness, but also our communication and marriage in general. We were just talking tonight that we are going to try to start back tomorrow doing it at least one morning every weekend, which will be one of my new years resolutions once I actually sit down and put pen to paper.

After the stress of finances and weight gain over the past 3-4 years, my resolutions are to...

Lose 5 lbs./month between now and June (to continue afterwards but especially June because I may be headed to England w/ my dad and Evan then and I want to be in good enough shape to enjoy it).

Take steps to better our financial situation (I have details written down but won't bore you with them) 'cuz leaving that to dh has put us in the poor house.

Run our house in a more organized manner (I was missing appointments right and left and the place is a disaster zone)

Rebuild relationships with my immediate family. Change in my attitude & the above resolutions should help greatly with this.

This sounds like a huge undertaking and I may have bitten off more than I can chew but I've reached the point where I can't stand things the way they are and after waiting years for others to change them, I need to take matters in to my own hands. I actually have written down the small steps I'm going to take to accomplish these goals and a short list of reasons I want to do them so when I tempted to give up, I remember why I wanted to do them in the first place.

Sometimes I make new years resolutions and sometimes I don't. I have not made any resolutions for the past couple of years and feel like I would like to make a couple of resolutions this year. I need to do something about my organization system at the house. I never did get things in proper order when we moved, and we have had some very stressful situations lately when one of us has needed a document and I have been unable to find it, or have only been able to find it after turning the house upside down. I need to lose a good 20 pounds. I have gained back all the weight I lost when I did Weight Watchers a few years ago, and I really don't want to have to go out and buy all new clothes because mine no longer fit me. I need to make some decisions about my long term goals. I have put off making any decisions about my career and/or education, but I think it is time for that to happen.

I go back and forth, some years I do resolutions, some years I don't. I haven't done them in a few years and I really feel like I want/need to do them this year. I like Ami's idea of not only writing the resolutions, but the reasons behind those resolutions and small steps to help accomplish them. I need to sit down and really make a thoughtful effort to make a doable list this year. Once that is accomplished, I'll come back and add them here.

DD and I used to play tennis, but as she got more involved in dance that has gone by the wayside.

I always make the same general resolutions - lose weight and tidy my house.

I sat down and did my goals last night and this moening. I have small steps and reasons listed for each goal, but here are my big goals;

1. Do a gratitude journal
2. Spend at least 30 minutes each week with each of the girls one on one time doing something of their choosing.
3. Be a more patient parent.
4. 30 minutes a day of physical exercise
5. Drink at least 2 glasses of water a day with the goal of being down to one cup of coffee and one mt. Dew a day by the end of March.
6. Be more organized around the house.
7. Pay off credit car and have $1000 emergency fund by the end of the year.
8. Finish up a few renovation projects around the house.
