**For those uncertain to what a DYK thread is......**

DYK stands for Did You Know or Do You Know

It is simply a chit chat thread where every thought is written in sentences and each sentences starts with the initials DYK---it is fun, entertaining and a great way to meet the board members

Below are some fun DYK blinkies--feel free to snag any if you like:

Middle Schoolers in general do abuse the hall pass. It can be quite frustrating to deal with. However I think it is wise to let Gabby know she has your permission to walk out of class if it is an emergency.

dyk I am sorry that Gabby had a so so first day of school

dyk wow that teacher seems a bit much, 12 steps to have a binder "his way"

dyk no teacher can deny a child a hall pass, he will never know if the child is serious of faking

dyk I don't blame you for telling her to leave the class.

I know it isn't a school rule, because I have a school rule book.I can understand being strict about hall pass use,but to point to a waste bskt and tell hem that is where they can get sick is over the top.Plus there are other reasons a girl may have to leave the class room.Gabby says her Reading teacher is stricter about hall pass use,but she did tell them if it was reall an emergency they can certainly leave.Plus his remark about treating them like they are inner city kids is over the top too.Gabby is now terrified of starting her period for the 1st ime in his class and him making her sit there for the whole class. To be honest with you I don't know that she would walk out, even though I have told her too over the years.THere are kids that abuse hall passes, but it really is the teachers job t figure this out the first few weeks of school,My kid was in kdg for 6 months before she came home and told me she saw the bathroom for the first time,so my kid is not a hall pass abuser. His list of class rules a page and 1/2 long single spaced.I have nevesigned a list that long. Most I have signed are 5-6 class rules tops.Instead we get a list of the five P's for his classroom.Gabby says she is afraid to mve in his classroom. There really isn't much we can do since there are only 2 science teachers per grade and all 7th graders have them for1/2 the year.Hopfully he will loosen up and he is just really nasty the first day,so the kids know his expectaions. To be honest the expections may not be all that unresonable, but telling kids they can NEVER use the bathroom, they can't smile,or turn around or move is over the top.

What a whacked out teacher.

So (excuse me for being gross) if a girl needs to change a tampon or something, she should also do that in class? C'mon! What the heck is he thinking?

Not sure what to do since you can't even be 0 secs late(I signed this so I know he said that)I have a feeling he was saying it for effect, but come on whe nyou have someone in the class who wants to please, which some kids this age still do,you should chose your words more carefully.

She actually has most classes with her bffs, but they are not together all day like they were in previous years.

The bright spot is they switch science teachers in Jan,and she will have life science.Plus like I told her in life you do have to put up will all kinds of people,so lesson learned.

DYK yes the whole drama of not having class w/our friends just gets me

DYK last night Rach was on the phone telling one of her friends that *gasp* she had to go to the HS for her first period class instead of riding the bus to MS

DYK she made it sound like a big disaster....DH & I could hear hear yakking in her room all the way down in our bedroom

DYK both of us were wondering what in the world could she be talking about for so long
