**For those uncertain to what a DYK thread is......**
DYK stands for Did You Know or Do You Know
It is simply a chit chat thread where every thought is written in sentences and each sentences starts with the initials DYK---it is fun, entertaining and a great way to meet the board members
Below are some fun DYK blinkies--feel free to snag any if you like:

it's supposed to hit west Louisiana Mon night/Tues early am. Which means bad news for east Louisiana including New Orleans, since the east side gets the worst!
But that could always change.
As of now...schools are not closed for our district, but we have to keep our ears open.
Aly loves Bon Jovi--especially the newer stuff.
LOL...thankfully, she's never been a problem in any teacher's class.
yes, I teach life science the whole year. Sciences are divided by middle school grades in our state: 6th grade physical science, 7th grade life science, and 8th grade earth/space science. Life science is the only one I want to teach.
When I was in school, it was divided like this, then somewhere between me being in school and me being a teacher, they were integrated.
When I was in school, the public school 7th graders DID disect a frog, but 7th grade doesn't disect. I was in private school for life science, so we didn't, but we did learn all about puberty and pregnancy. I didn't even disect anything in high school, but that was a flub on the teacher's part. It was his first year in public school and he never disected in private school. But the other biology teacher had the students disect frogs, crawfish, earthworms, and a guinea pig (EWWW!). Cats were disected in college, not in high school or middle school.
I only disected a frog and a crawfish and only in college.
Some of the students WANT to disect, but most don't. I'm so glad we don't have to. Last year, someone (I don't know who--maybe a science professor from the university??) came in for a club meeting and donated the frogs and let any of the science club members who wanted to disect a frog.
We are not planning to. We are pretty far inland and not close to any waterway that would cause a storm surge that would affect us.
LOL..true!
I bought meal worms for an experiment and most of them wanted to disect them. I told them we treat animals ethically in this classroom. Of course, when I was showing them slides of dead/smushed bugs yesterday with the scope--they were ready to turn me in...lol.
Then, they wanted to disect the meal worms again...lol.
One of my students from last year is bringing me a red-eared slider. She was the one who brought me one last year that died mid-year.
