**For those uncertain to what a DYK thread is......**

DYK stands for Did You Know or Do You Know

It is simply a chit chat thread where every thought is written in sentences and each sentences starts with the initials DYK---it is fun, entertaining and a great way to meet the board members

Below are some fun DYK blinkies--feel free to snag any if you like:

I don't know the requirements for graduating high school anymore (I am certified 1-8, not high school). But, I do know there are multiple sets of requirements. There's the req just to graduate and the req to be eligible for TOPS (the state scholarship program).

When I was in high school, foreign lang wasn't required to graduate (and we didn't have TOPS), but we (those preparing for college) were advised to take 2 years. All we had was French (and the teacher taught my mom & aunt English AND taught a fellow classmate's GRANDPA...she was in her late 70s/80s at the time...she was retired, but taught French 1 & 2, two classes a day).

But if you take 2 years of foreign language in middle school (our school only has Spanish--this is our 3rd year with Spanish, we only had French before), you can take a test. If you pass the test, you get one full year of high school credit.

I think of Louis Armstrong with his puffed out cheeks. My stepsister played the trumpet.
