DYK Thread for October

**For those uncertain to what a DYK thread is......**

DYK stands for Did You Know or Do You Know

It is simply a chit chat thread where every thought is written in sentences and each sentences starts with the initials DYK---it is fun, entertaining and a great way to meet the board members

Below are some fun DYK blinkies--feel free to snag any if you like:

The 60's is a cold front??

It was in the 40's here the other morning, with a freezing wind coming in off the ocean!

LOL!Gabby loves her i-pod.We got her the touch last Christmas. We thought it was broke but the on off button was jus sticking because of her case.We were glad we did not have to get it fixed considering it isn't even a year old and it not working had nothing to do with her.

I'll bet she will look adorable in them!

Glasses are so "in" now, and they have so many cute frames, I almost wish I wore them! :)

That would be me. . .

I had an exam today, too

I don't think I did that well

Whatever. . . I am not going to stress it!

I don't think the buzz of a phone vibration would distract me taking a test, but someone moving my purse out WOULD!!

I never turn my phone off. It is always on vibrate. I am too worried about the kids---in case they get sick or hurt at school. They are more important to me than the stupid school rules.

I disagree

I'm a mom first, and a student second

The kids' schools may not always be able to reach my husband if he's in Trauma, or something like that, so I have to keep my phone on at all times in case one of the kids got sick or hurt

I would drop out of school before I'd turn it off

I do, however, keep it on vibrate

See, and *I'm* the primary contact for the schools, since they will not pull my husband out of Trauma for ANYTHING

He does have his cell with him at all times, but he is gloved and gowned when he's working a trauma, or running a Code, and he won't answer until he has the patient stabilized and he's de-gloved, and sometimes that can take hours

I know, because I call him a lot, and if he doesn't pick up, I figure a trauma patient came in, or someone "coded" LOL

I also listed my neighbor, and my sister, but *I* would want to be contacted in an emergency, not for them to be contacted, unless something happened where my phone died or something

When I was in first grade, I fell off the monkey bars at school and broke my elbow. I was taken to the ER, and then taken to surgery and a pin was put in my elbow, and I was in the hospital in traction for a few days until the pin/traction were removed

When my husband was in kindergarten, he got behind a wooden swing, and it flew back and hit him in the mouth, and he lost a couple of baby teeth and cut his lip and was taken to the ER

My kids have gotten fevers, and puked at school before

It is situations like this that require me to keep my phone with me and on vibrate while I'm in school, even during exams

If that is distracting, I'm so sorry to the other students, but that is my reality

It might be different if my DH were available all the time
