You know what my answer will be. A degree now is better than no degree at all, and you will learn alot from the experience. Graduating in December 06, about 20 years after I started!!

Is there a local university you can attend? Around here, online Universities are not well thought of, but I think that may be because there are five brick and mortar ones around here. If you are out in the boonies, and local businesses want college grads, it may be the way to go.

Maybe there is some way to find out if it will be worth the $$ to go online. I don't know how you can find out, though.

"I know that online degrees aren't as accepted as actually going to school at a college. I think in the field I am wanting to go into, they are in need of workers so as long as you have the eduation, it isn't as competitive as other fields"

Not necessarily. Online school are gaining more acceptance, but the school HAS to be acredited. I don't believe the University of Phoenix is accredited (I read an article about them a year ago), but you may want to check up on that. You might also want to research on other on-line programs, or programs offered by a local college.

"So my turmoil is do I start this year or wait till next year. She is only 3 and only in 2 mornign a week pre-school! Next year she will be 4 and a little more independant and in 3 morning a week preschool! Or does it not matter either way and it is a sacrafice no matter what so start now?????"

Start now with one course. If you are taking the classes online, you can do it at your convenience. I don't think one course will take much time. You could get two courses out of the way this year.

Well, of course I'm all in favour of you doing it, however I don't know much about that university except for the Spam that shows up up in my mailbox everyday. LOL But do some checking with your local universities and colleges as well. Some of them may offer distance learning (i.e. correspondence courses) that you could combine with some college classes once the little one is more in school or the odd evening. As for how much time it will take? It really depends. I've taken correspondence courses that are easy peasy and you could probably finish in a week and others that required tons of work. But one or two courses should be doable even with the little on home more. But before you decide on the on-line university, get on-line and check out all your local colleges that offer the same thing you need and even make an appointment to go in and talk to an advisor and get their advice. You could also probably talk to someone in the Children's Services department of your city and ask them about the acceptability of the other degree and what it would mean to getting a carreer. Most people are happy to talk about their jobs and how they got there.

Anyway, don't jump too quickly, do lots of research and I know when I was getting a bachelor's degree there are a certain number of core courses you have to take like economics, psychology, etc. that are often offered in evenings because most students need to take them. It gets more restrictive as the courses get more specialized but by then you'll have Carys in school full-time. Research research research, then go for it!
