DYK Thread for December

**For those uncertain to what a DYK thread is......**

DYK stands for Did You Know or Do You Know

It is simply a chit chat thread where every thought is written in sentences and each sentences starts with the initials DYK---it is fun, entertaining and a great way to meet the board members

Below are some fun DYK blinkies--feel free to snag any if you like:

DYK I'm not surprised you're Catholic...just associate it w/LA just like I associate Baptist w/parts of TX (which is where my mom went to college)

DYK I wasn't raised religiously but I couldn't become Catholic because there are a lot of ancient rituals/practices I don't necessarily agree with; I guess I'm more pragmatic ;-)

DYK also a local Catholic parish that sponsors the community rec lacrosse teams my girls play on put Catholicism in an unfavorable light....the teams are open to all youth, regardless of whether they belong to the parish. They reserve two spots for parish members on each team & charge a lower fee, which I don't have an issue with but what I find offensive is they asked if you were Catholic or not on the registration form

DYK like what does that have anything to do with it? They don't ask if you're parish members but if you're Catholic....I told DH (who registered the girls) not to answer but he said it was mandatory...WTF???

DYK Mindy gr8 to see you in the thread! I hope you keep it up...

DYK is Kayleigh doing ski club this yr, has it started yet? I know the local resorts down here got a little natural snow in Nov but its also been cold enough to make snow

DYK how is Italian going for Kayleigh? My bro & his family were down the Thanksgiving wkend & my 14 yo niece takes Italian - DH was teasing her that she was taking it to meet cute Italian guys ;-)

DYK I know Charles will enjoy the iPhone, its right up his alley since he's a Mac guy....I had the phone yesterday to bring it back to the store so his address book could be transferred. I fiddled around w/it & its a neat device esp considering it doesn't cost much more than say a Blackberry

I made my confirmation in 9th grade, but they also Confirmed the 8th grades that year too.Now most churches around here confirm in 8th grade.Gab has a friend ,he moved to SC for 3 months last year(6th grade),he moved back here and attended ccd with Gab,but in May he went down to SC to make his Confirmation.I know it was a Catholic church, becasue they are practicing Catholics.

I would not think that was legal, especially if it is a community sponsered sport.I have never been asked our religion on amy forms I filled out for Gabby, unless it was church related. When I signed Gab up for ccd I had to show her Baptism certificate, becasue she was bapitized at a different church, than the one we attend now.Never mind I just reread your post and it is sponsered by the church so I guess they can ask but still....

Most of the skie resorts around here have record amts of snow this year(man made and Nat),since it has been so cold in NOv.We just get snow showers everyday, enough to cover the grassy areas, but it really does not stick too much yet, just makes the roads slick.

I'd be glad to. Usually the girls will put something down in the shout out folder.....just be sure to give me some direction....color scheme, theme, etc.

And, btw, I really like your siggy, I don't think it is lame at all!
